Paul

Paul is a Foundation-level Midnight Inn worker whose quiet relationship with the Celestial elf Mei pulls Lex into the Origin war. His willingness to leave safety and search for her gives the Inn a personal reason to intervene, and his eventual appointment as a remote tavern manager lets him honor both love and duty. Biography

Searching for Mei

Paul works in the Inn's flying glass city and has never caused trouble until repeated encounters with the Henali soldier Mei become affection. When the sealed Inn cuts off news during the war, sleepless uncertainty drives him to ask Z for a way outside, even offering his accumulated leave for a search he expects to conduct alone. Lex refuses to treat an employee's crisis as an inconvenience and carries Paul through besieged planets, karmic travel, and Celestial battlefields toward the Tsu galaxy. (Chapters 2150–2158)

Love, duty, and a tavern of his own

Lex verifies that Mei's feelings are genuine before allowing the pair to speak privately. Mei refuses to abandon her army despite the mortal danger, and Paul accepts her duty even though he wants her safe. Lex resolves the conflict by placing an interconnected tavern near her deployment and appointing Paul its manager. Paul remains close enough to see Mei while serving the Inn, but the enormous internal facility is far beyond anything he has previously managed, making the appointment both reward and daunting new responsibility. Appearance and personality

Paul is an ordinary-looking human worker whose extreme sleep deprivation becomes obvious when Mei disappears. He is earnest, courageous, conversational, and more romantically perceptive than Lex despite his limited experience outside the Inn. Anxiety can overwhelm him, especially when he learns the scale of the forces hunting Mei, but he does not use fear or low cultivation as a reason to abandon her. (Chapters 2150–2158)

Abilities and cultivation

Paul is a Foundation cultivator and experienced hospitality worker, but he has no demonstrated signature combat technique. His strengths are service, emotional attentiveness, institutional loyalty, and the willingness to function in unfamiliar environments. During the rescue Lex must shield him from space, teleportation pressure, black-hole conditions, and immortal battles, establishing a severe power limit.
