Biography

Reincarnation and refuge

Ming Jie awakens without a human heart or body and asks the Innkeeper to explain what he has become. He gradually accepts that death and reincarnation may have occurred without the expected passage of time, then reveals a system he fears must remain secret. Lex considers extraction but chooses conversation and refuge. Much later the immense Mountain-man wakes at the Inn and again seeks the Innkeeper, showing that uncertainty has become a durable relationship of trust. (Chapters 444–448, 1342–1343)

Appearance and personality

Ming Jie is a colossal living mountain or mountain-man. He is thoughtful, emotionally volatile under existential pressure, and cautious about secrets. (Chapters 444–448)

Abilities and cultivation

His mineral body is enormous and lacks ordinary organs; he also carries a system not yet fully fused with his soul. The narrative does not establish its functions, and extraction is only discussed as a possibility. (Chapters 444–448)
