Biography

Testing the Tavern owner

Mario arrives with Elio while planted nobles provoke trouble, expecting a normal proprietor to tolerate influential abuse or quietly remove it. Lex publicly restrains the men, asks who knows them, and bluntly identifies the setup. Mario's amusement turns to caution when the accusation shows both perception and confidence, forcing him to reassess the Tavern as a local actor that cannot be handled through routine intimidation. Mario appears mature without looking old. He is composed, calculating, and initially amused by risk until unexpected competence changes the equation. (Chapters 337, 341)
