The forgetful Guardian

Mango accepts an Innkeeper letter naming him Lex and Fenrir's Guardian, leaves a hut he has occupied for ages, and escorts them through Arch-Heaven. A racial curse restricts his memory to roughly ten days, yet his body retains the instincts needed to follow karma, avoid Lawstorms, cross regions where Lex must seal his senses, and detect false power percentages. He donates his Blessing Stone to Lex and remains with the group; when Arch-Heaven later develops, his limiter rises from thirty-nine to forty-one percent without conscious effort. Mango is a goldfish who travels in a fishbowl. He is haughty, cheerful, generous, and relentlessly positive, often boasting while misunderstanding ordinary stories.
