Kritter

Kritter is an insectoid Poloid leader whose hatred of the Kraven is intense even by his people's standards. A former top Ventura student, he joins Lex's rulers' conference and learns that the academy cultivated the very war consuming their realm, forcing political restraint onto anger that had previously seemed straightforward. (Chapters 704–713)

Biography

Hatred and restraint at the conference

Kritter greets Cornelius by accusing him of eating a Poloid duke, then reserves far deeper hostility for the Kraven, whom he describes as a parasitic plague unworthy of rulership. His anger reflects repeated Poloid losses rather than abstract prejudice. Yet when the meeting reveals the conflict may have been engineered by Ventura, Kritter restrains Sabr with a leg and keeps listening, choosing information over an immediate outburst. (Chapters 704–708)

The conference ends without an easy military solution, but later ceremonial recognition identifies Kritter as founder of a new Poloid nation. Sending Pvarti and Jasmine a major gift positions that new state inside the diplomatic network formed around the Inn. His development is therefore from embattled racial representative to acknowledged national founder, while the ultimate survival of his people and realm remains unresolved. (Chapters 708–713)

Appearance and personality

Kritter is an insectoid Poloid with antennae and bony legs; outsiders such as Lex struggle to read his expressions. He transmits thoughts directly rather than speaking conventionally. He is blunt, intensely loyal to his species, and capable of consuming hatred, yet he can recognize when a volatile ally must remain silent so a dangerous revelation can be understood fully. Abilities and cultivation

Kritter is an immortal leader and former top Ventura student, though his exact realm and combat techniques are not stated. His species permits telepathic communication through antenna movements, and his physical leg can restrain Sabr during the meeting. Political authority lets him found and represent a new nation, but no demonstrated power allows him to defeat the massed immortal Kraven or prevent the realm barrier's collapse. (Chapters 704–713)
