A wounded mercenary at the early Inn

Without family backing or wealth, Hugo turns unusual talent into a place in the lunar Deepwater Brotherhood, accepting imperfect treatment because it offers relative independence. He reaches the Midnight Inn seriously wounded and chooses the Recovery pod, then becomes one of its earliest repeat guests. His return gives the struggling Inn proof that a useful service can create loyalty, while healing allows Hugo to continue a hazardous career that ordinary medicine could not sustain as effectively.
