After achieving enlightenment and sentience, Edward does not immediately isolate himself as a powerful monster. He cycles through human towns and academies under a teenage disguise, taking the part-time jobs common to local students. Centuries of handyman work turn observation into practical mastery, and Rick later learns from him, showing that Edward's long experiment in human life produces skills and relationships rather than mere camouflage. Edward stays deep in the sea until the interspecies meeting is ready, minimizing the panic his true presence could cause.
