Aquaphina's Hero Sword

Aquaphina’s Hero Sword is the divine weapon carried by Aquaphina’s chosen Hero, Barry. It is a transforming armament that channels water and holy power against demons. Despite the generic phrases “hero’s sword” and “hero sword” used around it, it is not Gracia’s Hero’s Sword, which Kai had already returned to its own goddess. (Chapters 263, 301)

History

Barry’s first battle

Barry first draws the sword while confronting a demon during his campaign in Eridani. Its light marks it as a hero weapon, and the demon identifies it as the only thing present that can inflict lasting harm. Barry manages a cut, but the demon’s speed and strength overwhelm him before the weapon can decide the battle. The scene establishes a recurring limitation: divine compatibility gives Barry access to anti-demon damage, not automatic victory over a superior opponent. (Chapter 263)

Training and transformations

As Kai trains Barry and his companions, the weapon appears in multiple forms. Barry fights with flowing water movement, shifts the sword into a shield for defense, and changes it into a spear for different reach and attack patterns. He channels named techniques such as Slithering Wave, Blade of the Water Goddess, and Goddess Form 3: Hurricane Strike through the armament, combining Aquaphina’s holy force with water, wind, and icicles. Demon lords and later limits

Barry carries the weapon into the Spirit World and later conflicts with higher demons. It remains effective at purging or wounding demonic targets and can redirect hostile energy through its blade, but Demon Lords and Lygma still penetrate its defense or overpower its techniques. No scene records the sword being destroyed, surrendered, or returned to Aquaphina, so Barry remains its latest confirmed wielder and physical custodian. (Chapters 286–293, 327)

Abilities and properties

The weapon changes among sword, shield, and spear forms while preserving its divine affinity. It channels Barry’s water, wind, holy energy, and broad-area icicle techniques; harms demons resistant to mundane weapons; supports holy barriers; and can redirect black lightning through the blade. Its performance scales with Barry’s mana, control, and resolve. Form-changing cannot compensate when an enemy is too fast or powerful, and the corpus does not show the sword independently healing Barry, choosing a new user, or acting apart from his commands.
