Valera

Valera is a Hidden Sect operative whose work in intelligence, stealth, and assassination supports the campaign to reclaim Vanaheim. The name “Calera” in the final line of her confrontation with Carlotta is treated as a typographical variant of Valera, not a separate person.

Biography

Reconnaissance and judgment

Valera is assigned to escort Kai LuForia from the castle to a reconnaissance party. She tests him by moving at extreme speed, masks her surprise when he keeps pace, and then joins the infiltration of a demonic Brotherhood base. Her instinct is lethal—she sneaks behind an abuser to kill him—but Kai interrupts to question the target, after which Valera trips him with a whip and helps the team extract captive women from the compound. The operation establishes her as a field agent whose emotional restraint serves urgent intelligence work rather than indifference to victims. (Chapters 496–499)

Valera later emerges from the shadows to deliver news and vanishes just as quickly. During the pursuit of traitor Carlotta, however, her restraint breaks: she demands to know why a respected member betrayed their home, fights her with daggers, helps disable her dantian, and orders a return to the capital. When Carlotta continues raving, “Calera” executes her by decapitation; the scene's continuous personnel and action identify that spelling as Valera. She remains alive and on duty after the execution. Appearance and personality
