Sandu
Sandu is Jiang Cheng's spiritual sword and his principal bladed weapon as leader of the YunmengJiang Sect.
History
Confiscation and recovery
Sandu is carried by Jiang Cheng during his early encounters with Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian after the latter's return. In the past, the QishanWen Sect confiscates it with the other disciples' swords during the indoctrination. Lan WangJi and Jiang Cheng later recover the seized weapons in a surprise attack, returning Sandu to its wielder. (Chapters 8, 57, 61)
Sect leader's sword
Jiang Cheng uses Sandu throughout the Sunshot Campaign and the disputes surrounding Wei WuXian's protection of the Wen survivors. At Burial Mound, the loss of spiritual power extinguishes its usual glare and makes the sword feel extraordinarily heavy, but Jiang Cheng continues to use it in close defense. At Guanyin Temple he wields Sandu alongside Zidian while confronting Jin GuangYao and Nie MingJue's fierce corpse. (Chapters 71–82, 101–107)
Abilities and properties
- Sandu channels Jiang Cheng's spiritual energy into sword glare and ranged attacks. (Chapters 61, 78)
- Without access to spiritual power, its weight becomes difficult even for Jiang Cheng to manage. (Chapters 79, 81)
- It can be paired with Zidian, giving Jiang Cheng both a sword and a flexible spiritual weapon in combat. (Chapters 101, 104)
