Jin GuangShan

Jin GuangShan is the former leader of the LanlingJin Sect whose pursuit of influence and repeated exploitation of women leave lasting damage within his family and the cultivation world.

Biography

Sect leadership and family

Jin GuangShan led the LanlingJin Sect and had many children outside his marriage to Madam Jin. He rejected Meng Yao when the young man first came to Koi Tower, later recognized him as Jin GuangYao, and brought another illegitimate son, Mo XuanYu, into the sect. (Chapters 7, 47–48)

During the Sunshot Campaign's aftermath, his sect protected Xue Yang because of the latter's work on the Stygian Tiger Seal. Jin GuangShan pressed Wei WuXian to surrender the Seal and used public gatherings to challenge his independence and isolate him politically. (Chapters 30 and 72–73)

Burial Mound and death

Jin GuangShan led the LanlingJin force in the first siege of Burial Mound. Later testimony revealed that he had assaulted the wife of his subordinate Qin CangYe, making Qin Su his daughter without publicly acknowledging her. Testimony at Lotus Pier further described Jin GuangYao arranging the circumstances of his father's degrading death and eliminating the witnesses. (Chapters 68, 85–86)

Appearance and personality

His method depends on reputation and coalition. Publicly invoking order allows private interests—territory, artifacts, and family advantage—to look like neutral policy. It is limited by the same hypocrisy: his refusal to acknowledge children and victims creates grievances that Jin GuangYao later exploits, while his appetite and carelessness leave him vulnerable inside the household he believes he controls.
