Silverwood

Muriel Silverwood, normally addressed as Lady Silverwood, is the ten-millennia-old widowed head of the Silverwood Family. An Ancient Druid with a reputation strong enough to command broad deference, she negotiates with Karl for a Peerless nature-summoning skill and arranges the transfer of a sickly Forest Lord fawn into his care.

Biography

A family head trades prestige for a lasting legacy

Silverwood summons Karl to a private dinner after learning that his nature summons retain the full magic and minds of their species. She initially asks for a repeatable method that could spread through her family, but Karl distinguishes a family inheritance from one personal transfer and demands an equivalent exchange. Silverwood responds pragmatically: she scales the request back to herself, trusting that her long life may let her teach a successor later, and offers the young Forest Lord Skadi after securing the mother's agreement. The bargain gives Karl a companion he can heal while giving Silverwood the Peerless-grade Army of Nature's Vengeance, aligning family prestige with protection of the Forest Lord's territory. (Chapters 1903 and 1908–1910)

The exchange also exposes its costs. Silverwood learns that the skill consumes five thousand mana per construct, making an “army” more like a small strike team for an ordinary caster, and Karl quickly realizes that she knew Skadi was sick or cursed. She maintains a professional demeanor when challenged and continues questioning how Karl will return home, prioritizing the completed bargain over defending every hidden detail. At their final dinner, she sees him depart through the Chaos Plane and receives a report that his dungeon equipment was improvised rather than prepared, leaving her with both the new skill and a clearer measure of the unusual ally she has cultivated. (Chapters 1911–1912)

Appearance and personality

Silverwood is an ancient female Elf and a widow, but the corpus gives no reliable hair, eye, height, or clothing description. Her age and status do not make her physically frail; other observers treat her as an imposing family head whose reputation makes open gossip unsafe. (Chapters 1908–1909)

She is direct, practical, and protective of the Silverwood legacy. She recognizes the difference between personal and inheritable value immediately, bargains without pretending Karl's skill is cheap, and is willing to exchange a Divine Beast only after obtaining its mother's approval. Her concealed knowledge of Skadi's condition adds calculation to that protectiveness. (Chapters 1908–1911)

Abilities and class

Silverwood is an Ancient Druid with deep nature affinity. Karl transfers [Army of Nature's Vengeance] to her through Follow Me, Little One, using a Nature Elemental stone as cover for the mechanism. The Peerless-grade skill summons Epic-grade nature beings such as Dryad Queens with their innate magic and mental capacity intact, allowing them to restrain powerful enemies as well as deal damage. (Chapters 1908–1910)

Its explicit limit is mana cost: every construct requires roughly five thousand mana, so Silverwood cannot field Karl's usual numbers without an exceptional reserve. The skill is personally learned rather than automatically inherited by her family, and teaching successors remains a future project. Her latest state confirms acquisition, not demonstrated mastery in battle or a new rank. (Chapters 1909–1911)

Relationships

  • Karl: Silverwood treats Karl as a valuable but dangerous negotiator, trading him Skadi for a personal Peerless skill and testing how much of that advantage can eventually benefit her family. (Chapters 1903 and 1908–1912)
  • Skadi: Silverwood arranges the sickly Forest Lord fawn's placement with Karl after consulting the fawn's mother. The transaction both heals Skadi and secures a defensive advantage for the mother's territory. (Chapters 1909–1911)
  • The Silverwood Family: Her principal loyalty is to the family's long-term prestige and survival. Her first request seeks a repeatable legacy, and her compromise relies on eventually teaching a successor herself. (Chapter 1909)

Items

Silverwood has no scoped catalog item. The Nature Elemental stone used during the skill transfer is a prop supplied by Karl, not her persistent equipment. (Chapter 1910)
