Seraphina
Biography
A young dragon learns her body
Seraphina receives her human-language name after joining the young dragons around Karl's community. Her food needs are immediately clear—she prefers meat and distinguishes a dragon's appreciation of roasted food from the boys' gluttony, asserting an individual identity instead of being treated as interchangeable with the male hatchlings. (Chapters 1867–1870 and 1914)
Because she had never flown any distance, Seraphina's first sustained attempts leave her frantically working underdeveloped wing muscles. The community gives her room to practice rather than confusing a dragon's instinctive capacity for flight with trained endurance, making physical conditioning the necessary next stage of her development. (Chapter 1874)
Appearance and personality
Seraphina is a young female dragon, smaller than male peers of the same age. She is opinionated about food and rolls her eyes at their habits. (Chapters 1870 and 1914)
Abilities and class
Seraphina has a dragon's wings, meat diet, and innate capacity for flight, but flight stamina and muscle development require practice. Her species, rank, class, and later advancement are not stated. (Chapters 1870–1874)
