Oobleck
Oobleck is a seven-armed Immortal Cephalopod who rules a slave territory and leads repeated portal invasions into the mortal world. After Karl frees his captives, Oobleck turns reclamation into a personal war, escapes one defeat, and finally dies when Karl cripples him and Cara delivers the killing blow. No unrelated character named Oobleck appears in the scoped corpus.
Biography
Freed captives turn an invasion into a challenge to Oobleck's rule
Oobleck first appears through the Immortal slave collars worn by Mythic lizardfolk displaced into Drodh. The collars label each wearer his property, compel obedience, and contain poison injectors capable of killing anyone who forces them open. The captives say Oobleck usually kills Dragon clerics and has left them physically adapted to Immortal mana but without training. Karl and Remi nullify the enchantments and remove the collars, giving the freed group System classes and a reason to defend their new world if their former owner returns. (Chapters 1312–1314)
Oobleck does return, furious that Karl “stole” slaves whom he considers unused property. His ownership claim, rather than a strategic need to conquer Drodh, makes the confrontation personal. Karl kills Oobleck's subordinate and closes the easiest escape portal, while Hawk and local Drake Riders destroy the remaining forces. Oobleck is forced into direct aerial combat with an opponent whose mana supply and team coordination he badly underestimates. (Chapter 1317)
Superior control cannot overcome Karl's inexhaustible team
Oobleck initially has better mana control, efficient water attacks, protective skin magic, and damage reduction strong enough to trade Immortal power with Karl. He teaches Karl by example how to form attacks faster and waste less energy, yet cannot understand why the Mythic Avatar keeps producing Immortal-strength skills. The hidden reason is item assistance: Karl's Amulet of Destruction upgrades cheaper Mythic activations, while damage accumulated through [Rampage] erodes Oobleck's protection. (Chapters 1317–1318)
Karl develops [Chaos Blast], which passes through Oobleck's surface defenses and tears flesh from inside, then briefly catches him in [Mana Suppression]. Oobleck breaks the suppression with raw energy and escapes before the Darklight Host can finish him. The retreat preserves his life but abandons the invasion, slaves, and remaining frogs, establishing that survival outranks pride when his superior technique no longer controls the fight. (Chapter 1318)
A divine appeal destroys the ruler it was meant to save
Oobleck launches another invasion at the Golden Divine Academy, having mistaken its concentration of powered students for a royal compound while barely noticing the ordinary Capital. He moves the duel high above the ground but still exposes the region to destructive backlash. Faced with Karl's impossible Immortal essence, Oobleck appeals to the Beast Gods; a Demigod feline answers and attacks Karl, but Karl survives long enough to release a hundred prepared [Chaos Blasts]. Only Oobleck's central core remains, too damaged to contain or direct the divine being he summoned. (Chapters 1319, 1321, and 1325)
Cara appears behind the crippled Immortal and delivers the killing blow, ending Oobleck's millennia-long rule. The Demigod's subsequent attack causes far more destruction, while a later Immortal Octopus blames Karl for Oobleck's death. That accusation confirms the death and Oobleck's relationships among other invaders; it does not establish resurrection or survival of his core. (Chapters 1319–1321 and 1455)
Appearance and personality
Oobleck is a huge seven-armed Cephalopod or octopus whose skin changes color with emotion, turning purple or other intense shades when enraged. He flies or floats during aerial combat and has black blood. The corpus does not provide exact dimensions, eye color, clothing, or a distinction between a natural body and a transformed combat form. (Chapters 1313, 1317–1319)
He is possessive, cruel, proud of mastery, and pragmatic enough to flee. Oobleck kills clerics among his slaves, treats sentient people as recoverable property, and responds to liberation with rage. At the same time, he studies Karl's anomalous power accurately and recognizes when ordinary assumptions about rank have failed; his fatal mistake is calling a higher being whose actions he cannot control. (Chapters 1312–1319)
Abilities and class
Oobleck is a Void-tier Immortal Beast with far greater effective power than the nominally Mythic frogs in his force. The corpus does not name a System class or describe his birth and advancement, but states that he has ruled his territory for millennia. His Immortal body can survive as a central core and begin regenerating after losing limbs and most tissue, although Cara kills the core before recovery completes. (Chapters 1317, 1319, and 1325)
His combat magic centers on water and mana control. He fires barrages of water-element blasts, forms water around Karl, maintains protective spells over his skin, reduces incoming damage, and shapes skills more efficiently than Karl at the start of their fight. He can shatter [Mana Suppression] through raw energy, but doing so exhausts him, and [Chaos Blast] bypasses his surface protection. (Chapters 1317–1318)
Oobleck opens or uses portals between realms and can vanish with an invasion's remaining portals. The precise ownership of every portal is not always shown, so realm travel should not be treated as an unlimited personal spell. His final appeal produces a divine Beast God projection, but the Demigod acts independently and casually turns away from Oobleck once summoned; divine intervention is therefore a dangerous petition, not a controlled summon. (Chapters 1317–1319)
His slave collars enforce ownership through Immortal enchantment, poison needles, remote punishment, and lethal control. Those effects are item-derived and fail when Karl nullifies the enchantment while Remi blocks or bypasses the physical needles. Oobleck's latest combat state is death after catastrophic Chaos damage, with no demonstrated progression beyond Void-tier Immortal. (Chapters 1312–1314 and 1319)
Relationships
- Karl: Karl frees Oobleck's slaves, defeats his forces, learns from his mana control, and cripples him in the final battle. Their conflict turns Oobleck's ownership claim into the cause of his death. (Chapters 1312–1319)
- Cara: Cara wants to eat the escaped Cephalopod and ultimately delivers the killing blow after Karl destroys most of his body. (Chapters 1313 and 1319)
- Remi: Remi defeats the collars' poison mechanism with Karl, studies the captives' adaptation potion, and helps transform Oobleck's former property into self-defending residents. (Chapters 1312–1314)
- Hawk: Hawk destroys Oobleck's Mythic subordinate and helps clear the invasion, forcing Oobleck to fight Karl without an intact support force. (Chapter 1317)
- Supreme Lady Matilda: Oobleck's former captives understand Matilda as the Supreme guardian opposing his master and wider faction. Oobleck does not personally defeat or control her. (Chapters 1314 and 1319)
Items
Oobleck has no standalone item in the scoped catalog. His numbered slave collars are persistent control devices, but none is assigned a separate generated article; after nullification, Remi keeps examples for study. Their poison and compulsion are properties of the collars rather than Oobleck's innate body. (Chapters 1312–1314)
