Mira
Mira is the young human Cleric who remains as caretaker of the Temple of the Old Gods at an isolated Darklight Host way station in Narazir.
Biography
Choosing a dependent community over retreat
Mira receives Karl and his party when an anomaly deposits them near Way Station 42. With no regular clergy remaining, she maintains the temple, shows visitors its guest rooms and shelters, and supplies the local historical context that their failing System translation can no longer provide. Years of isolation have left her visibly pleased by company, but her hospitality is also the practical work of the only active temple representative in the area. (Chapters 1030–1031)
The Darklight Host has ordered her to retreat roughly a thousand kilometres through a war-torn region. Mira refuses because nearby farmers still depend on her, insisting that however limited she may be, she is still their Cleric. That choice places duty above her own safety and leaves her guarding a religious site whose powers and communications may not survive the System’s decline. She fears that without the System she will be unable to advance, yet does not use that uncertainty as a reason to abandon the community. (Chapter 1032)
Guarding relics as the temple’s future collapses
Mira guides the visitors through the temple and permits them to examine sealed relic stones so long as they remain in place. When the party confirms that the relic is genuine but cannot safely resolve its condition, she decides that if the temple must be left unguarded, she will hide the stones where they cannot be damaged or disturbed. The stated capability is protective rather than acquisitive: she refuses removal during ordinary circumstances and only contemplates concealment to preserve the relic. (Chapters 1033–1036)
The region later changes so completely that the travellers can find no sign of the temple. This realizes Mira’s fear that the site might vanish in her absence, but the corpus does not show whether she was displaced, erased with the former landscape, or survived elsewhere. Her latest personal decision is therefore to remain and protect her charges; her ultimate status after the anomaly is unknown. (Chapters 1038–1039, 1049)
Appearance and personality
Mira is a young human woman who wears a Darklight Host tabard and twists her hair into a loose bun; its colour is not given. She is sociable after years alone, laughing at Lotus’s enthusiasm, yet responsibility defines her more strongly than loneliness. Her refusal to desert dependent farmers and her careful rules around the relics show courage, modesty, and custodial restraint. (Chapters 1030–1034)
Abilities and class
Mira has a System-recognized Cleric class, but the text does not name her rank, patron, healing spells, or combat techniques. She retains enough unspecified power to claim she can conceal the relic stones safely if the temple falls. The method, range, and requirements are not demonstrated, and the divine seal already protecting the stones belongs to the temple’s gods rather than to Mira. She cannot inspect through that seal herself. (Chapters 1030, 1034, 1036)
Her most reliable capabilities are clerical stewardship and local knowledge: she operates the way station’s religious facilities, interprets the temple’s history, and understands its safeguards. Her concern that a dormant System could end her future advancement establishes a major limit. Her existing powers appear intact when last seen, but no later rank or expanded skill set is confirmed. (Chapters 1031–1036)
Relationships
Mira welcomes Karl’s group as unexpected guests and trusts them with a supervised examination of the temple relics. Lotus’s delight briefly breaks her isolation, while the party’s findings give her a clearer preservation plan. Her most consequential bond is with the unnamed farming community whose reliance on her causes her to reject evacuation. (Chapters 1030–1036)
