A Ranger gains a stronger bond

Joram serves the Mountain Giant border before joining the Capital's Overlord response. He brings his ordinary peregrine falcon Dave to Karl because Rangers cannot normally bond intelligent or magical beasts, leaving an enhanced ordinary-animal partnership as the viable route to a stronger companion without violating that class restriction. (Chapters 589, 626, and 660–665)

Karl's skill strengthens the bond and changes Joram's class while Dave rapidly reaches Commander Rank. Joram later receives a custom bow and volunteers to test Karl's repeatable trial, emerging battered but giving the group direct evidence about its danger and operation before others attempt it.
