Joan

Joan is a dark-haired young Red Dragon Cleric selected from a difficult student group and trained toward the support and tactical duties of a War Cleric.

Biography

Becoming the group’s protective Acolyte

Joan arrives with four other troubled students and dryly says that the “red lady” sent her to keep the children under control. A simple clerical necklace equips successfully, confirming that she belongs in the Elite training process even though strength-enhancing items are rejected for Red Dragon clergy. Tessa and Karl suspect her class before it is fully established, while Joan immediately looks for the missing Sybil, displaying the awareness expected of future army tacticians. (Chapters 606–607)

Asked what she wants to learn, Joan chooses protection magic so her peers will not hurt themselves. Karl supplies Circle of Protection, and opening the skill book surrounds her with golden light before a Red Dragon vision leaves her bleeding at the eyes while healing magic sustains her. The ordeal marks religious recognition as well as skill acquisition: she accepts a support role through a severe divine initiation rather than receiving a harmless technique. (Chapter 612)

Advancing into practical church service

Joan endures an unpleasant training mixture and then a personalized advancement potion, reaching Awakened rank alongside her peers. Increased mana allows more frequent casting, and she progresses in healing under Dana and the church’s supervision. The external potion accelerates rank but carries a broader cumulative penalty risk, so it is not evidence that Joan can advance others herself. (Chapters 615, 633, 638)

Her clerical habits extend beyond spells. She uses a soft whistle to get Sybil’s attention through Echolocation and later corrects an over-sensitive hearing reconstruction by comparing it with normal human perception. By then she is herding teammates, coordinating rest, and preparing to train personally with a Red Dragon High Priest while serving students through healing, support, and guidance. Her latest confirmed state is an active Awakened Acolyte. (Chapters 626, 671, 685, 689)

Appearance and personality

Joan is a dark-haired young girl and student; no eye colour or detailed clothing description is given. She is protective, observant, and sharply practical, describing her peers as idiots while consistently watching for their welfare. Her objection to the painful “power juice” shows plain-spoken humour, while her choice of protection magic and later guidance duties reveal genuine responsibility beneath it. (Chapters 606–615, 671)

Abilities and class

As a Red Dragon Cleric, Joan develops healing, support magic, guidance, and battlefield-tactical awareness. Circle of Protection is her named defensive spell; it creates an area defence, does not stack with another instance, and is weaker than Thor’s version at the time she learns it. Its precise radius, mana cost, and duration are not stated. (Chapters 607, 612, 638, 685)

Joan’s advancement to Awakened increases her mana and casting frequency. She can heal in training and understands how to communicate with an Echolocation user, but the latter is interpersonal technique rather than magic of her own. She demonstrates no offensive Red Dragon spell, and her latest development remains apprentice service under a High Priest rather than full clerical independence. (Chapters 626, 633, 638, 685–689)

Relationships

Tessa is Joan’s first named clerical mentor and remains involved in her training. Karl provides Circle of Protection, while Dana tracks her healing progress. Joan acts as a responsible peer to Sybil, Owen, and the other recruits, using attention signals and practical correction to keep the group functioning. (Chapters 606–612, 626, 638, 671–689)
