Erucus
Erucus is a green dragon known for protecting lost travelers and endangered animals, whose loyalty to Clipeus brings him into the battles against Sloth and the heavenly demon.
Biography
Prometheus and the Eastern Apocalypse
Erucus gathers in the southern swamp at Clipeus's command and receives Theodore Miller's party with more warmth than Brasmati. His instinct is to protect the dragon lord's dignity, but he immediately yields when Clipeus accepts Theodore's objection. Ordered to remain outside Sloth's domain so the dragon species will survive if the inner party fails, Erucus suppresses his protest and later surrenders his treasure under the lord's pledge to fund the banishment plan. (Chapters 338 and 344–348)
Erucus fights one of the released transcendents and returns with wounds cut to the bone and greatly reduced power. He accepts Clipeus's disbanding of the old dragon order with a reflection about leaves falling after their role is complete. Still injured, he later crosses to the East Continent and combines poisonous breath with Brasmati's fire against the heavenly demon, making a voluntary contribution after the lord has released him from collective duty. (Chapters 348–352 and 370–374)
Appearance and personality
Erucus is a green dragon who can assume a human form and speaks in a soft, cheerful manner. Reports describe him living quietly in mountains, rescuing lost people, and raising endangered animals. He is respectful, patient, and protective, though his obedience to Clipeus is immediate and absolute. Detailed clothing and stable human-form features are not supplied. (Chapters 344–346)
Magic, abilities, and martial skills
As an adult green dragon, Erucus has flight, transformation, enormous physical strength, resistance, and poisonous breath. In dragon form his breath leaves a green toxic trail and combines with Brasmati's superheated breath to injure the heavenly demon. His battle with a transcendent leaves deep scars and depleted power, establishing that his recovery and durability have limits even when the exact poison mechanics are not explained. (Chapters 348–352 and 370–374)
Relationships
- Clipeus: Erucus reveres Clipeus and obeys orders intended to preserve dragonkind, even when he wants to accompany the lord into danger. He accepts the later dissolution of that hierarchy without resistance. (Chapters 344–352)
- Theodore Miller: Erucus initially objects when Theodore challenges protocol, then accepts him as Clipeus's necessary partner and later asks to be used effectively in the eastern battle. (Chapters 345–352 and 370–374)
- Brasmati: Erucus and Brasmati are fellow adult dragons in both crises. Their paired breaths provide complementary poison and heat against the heavenly demon. (Chapters 344–352 and 370–374)
Items
Erucus's hoard is largely surrendered to Gluttony under Clipeus's binding pledge. The source does not inventory his remaining possessions, and no individual object is assigned to him in the supplied link manifest. (Chapter 348)
