Eight-Tails
Eight-Tails is the corrupted fox entity formed inside the Receptacle of Solitude in the Baekun Mountains. It is not a stable person or a willing host: the original human identity is already irrecoverable, and purification ends the Eight-Tails form while leaving the newly born three-tailed spirit later named Tres.
Biography
East Continent and the Northern War
Eight-Tails confronts Theodore Miller, Tiger King, and White Bear as the Receptacle's strongest product and structural axis. It overwhelms the three with eight-circle-level output, tail strikes, curses, regeneration, imitation, and rapidly improving combat judgment. Theodore's lightning giant supplies the force to keep it pinned while Abe no Seimei's Breaking Evil and Manifesting Good removes the corrupted tails one by one. The surviving creature is a small golden three-tailed fox with no human memories or evil energy; Seimei explains that the person used to create it had already died and could not be restored. Because the fox survives the exorcism, the spirits spare it, and it imprints on Theodore. Aquilo later detects remnants of Eight-Tails' accumulated power within the fox, but the hostile eight-tailed state does not return in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 257–261)
Appearance and personality
Eight-Tails has a foxlike body surrounded by eight black tails, with the eighth visibly unstable. Its former human form is already lost. It begins almost without reason, acting through hostility and impulse, yet learns tactics and techniques with alarming speed and even copies Tiger King's multiplication in a childlike display of rivalry. The cleansed golden fox is a new, innocent state without the corrupted form's memories. (Chapters 257–259)
Magic, abilities, and martial skills
Eight-Tails produces power comparable to eight circles. Its tails strike with extreme speed and force, create deceptive motion, and divide its body into multiple copies. It uses crude but dangerous shamanic curses, regenerates from otherwise fatal damage, and absorbs martial and supernatural methods while fighting. Its near-immortality is tied to the Receptacle's evil power; Seimei's exorcism strips that energy away, reducing eight tails to three and causing the separate space to collapse. (Chapters 257–260)
Relationships
- Theodore Miller: Theodore helps defeat and purify Eight-Tails. The surviving fox imprints on his magic as a parent and becomes Tres. (Chapters 257–259)
- Tiger King and White Bear: The two boss spirits contain Eight-Tails' divided forms and later agree that the cleansed fox is no longer evil and should not be killed. (Chapters 257–259)
- Tres: Tres is the three-tailed fox left after Eight-Tails' corrupted power is removed. He retains potential and residual strength, but not the original human's memories or the hostile identity. (Chapters 259–261)
Items
Eight-Tails has no personal item. The Receptacle of Solitude is the constructed space that creates and sustains the entity, not a possession carried by it, and it has no planned item article in the supplied catalog. (Chapters 257–260)
