Alfred Bellontes

Alfred Bellontes is a prince and war hero of the Bellontes Principality who turns the elementary Magic Missile into the lethal spell known as Magic Bullet. Decades after his death, Gluttony uses the original Ballistics Magic to transmit Alfred's memories, techniques, and a fragment of his soul to Theodore Miller.

Biography

Academy, Magic Contest, and National Service

Alfred is born the third son of King Bellontes with a body that does not naturally accumulate magic power. He compensates by converting his bones, flesh, blood vessels, and conditioned shooting arm into a specialized internal magic circle for Magic Missile, sacrificing the freedom to use a magician's broad repertoire. During the Bellontes Revolutionary War he serves as prince, general, and front-line combatant, kills thousands, and becomes feared even by master-level enemies. The memory preserved in Ballistics Magic shows him refusing a knight's offer to lead the charge, provoking enemy champions from the vanguard, and executing Marquis Astro after condemning the noble's border pillage and slave trading. At the end of the Synchro replay, the historical Alfred notices Theodore and advises the young magician not to surrender his own path for borrowed strength. (Chapters 6–8)

Theodore continues using Alfred's technique through the academy, Magic Contest, and early service, but Alfred himself is already dead. During Superbia's convoy attack, Gluttony's abnormally opened Overwrite loads a stored “object” and ego patterned on Alfred into Theodore's body. That soul fragment applies Alfred's battle judgment, protects Ellenoa, and asks Theodore's consent before a deeper connection; their successful Transmission restores more of the fragment but nearly collapses the boundary between their egos. Working together, they exploit Pride's movement and fire a sixfold Magic Bullet beyond Alfred's prime output, though the grimoire survives. Theodore then spends three weeks unconscious, deliberately gives up complete inheritance to preserve his identity, and awakens with Alfred's fragment gone but its sixth sense, bearing, memories, and military experience still embedded in him. (Chapters 75–81)

Appearance and personality

Alfred's historical battlefield memory presents a bearded adult prince with a deep, solemn voice and a body conditioned like a knight's, especially a shooting arm described as thick as a log. In Theodore's inner world during Overwrite, he appears as a blond man who retains the majesty of royalty and the dignity of a warrior. The later combat scenes occur through Theodore's body, so their physical actions should not be read as a new independent body or proof that Alfred has physically returned from death. (Chapters 7, 13, and 75–76)

He is bold, severe, and protective. Alfred insists on leading his soldiers from the front, uses his royal identity to draw dangerous enemies toward himself, and refuses honorable treatment to a noble accused of atrocities against border civilians. He is also capable of restraint and consent: his final advice warns Theodore against repeating his own narrow sacrifice, and his restored fragment explicitly asks permission before deepening their mental link. In battle he remains calm enough to analyze an immortal enemy, admits the limits of Theodore's body and his own knowledge, and respects Theodore's willingness to accept risk. (Chapters 7 and 75–78)

Magic, abilities, and martial skills

Alfred-style Magic Missile

Alfred completes Magic Missile inside his body and fires it directly from his finger, bypassing the conventional practice of forming magic outside the caster. The resulting blue Magic Bullet travels too quickly for ordinary opponents to evade, penetrates armor and defensive magic, and kills knights or magicians with precise shots to vital points. This specialization requires the body itself to serve as the spell's fixed circuit, preventing Alfred from maintaining a normal magician's versatility. Theodore initially reproduces only a reduced output because his unconditioned blood vessels and arm cannot endure Alfred's full recoil. (Chapters 6–8 and 13)

Magic Bullet remains technically incomplete because human fingers cannot withstand its greatest backlash. Concentrating multiple shots in the palm increases destructive power but reduces practical range and can destroy the firing arm. Theodore's sixfold version against Superbia combines Alfred's principle with Memorize and physical reinforcement, surpassing Alfred's prime single output while tearing Theodore's muscles and requiring extensive healing. This is a derivative created through their combined resources, not evidence that Alfred possessed Theodore's artifacts, stored spells, or expanded magical repertoire during his historical life. (Chapters 76–79)

Battlefield senses and command

Alfred possesses an innate sixth sense that reads danger and seems to glimpse the near future, along with tracking perception, close-combat judgment, interrogation experience, and more than a decade of front-line command. These qualities let his Overwrite fragment evade and counter Superbia despite being unable to access every skill or artifact belonging to Theodore. After Transmission, Theodore retains an undeveloped version of the sixth sense, changes in posture and etiquette associated with Alfred's royalty, and military experience that later informs battlefield decisions and troop training. The source distinguishes these enduring traces from Alfred continuing to speak as an independent resident soul. (Chapters 13, 15, 76–81, 143, 219–224, and 271)

Synchro, Overwrite, and Transmission

The original Ballistics Magic preserves Alfred-related material in several stages. Synchro plays a specific historical episode and lets Theodore share Alfred's senses, ending with a high matching rate and retained proficiency. Overwrite later loads Alfred's extracted object and ego into Theodore's living body, temporarily giving the fragment executive control but restricting it from abilities that belong personally to Theodore. Transmission then fuses their consciousness more deeply, risking skill loss, ego destruction, and mutual contamination in exchange for restoring more of the author fragment. None of these mechanisms resurrects the historical Alfred in a separate body, and Theodore's decision to separate their identities ends the active fragment while preserving selected traces. (Chapters 6–8 and 75–80)

Relationships

  • Theodore Miller: Theodore consumes Alfred's original work, learns his signature spell through a battlefield Synchro, and later accepts his ego through Overwrite and Transmission. Alfred advises him not to abandon a magician's wider path, respects his resolve against Superbia, and cooperates rather than attempting to keep Theodore's body. Theodore survives by relinquishing complete fusion, but carries Alfred's magic, senses, memories, and strategic habits for years afterward. (Chapters 6–8, 75–81, 143, 219–224, and 271)
  • Gluttony: Gluttony consumes Ballistics Magic, stores Alfred's experience and soul-related record, and later loads that record through Overwrite. Its Transmission function governs the dangerous restoration and fusion of Alfred's fragment. The corpus does not show Alfred contracting with Gluttony during his historical life or knowingly placing his soul inside the grimoire. (Chapters 6–8 and 75–80)
  • Superbia: Alfred's restored fragment confronts Superbia through Theodore's body, quickly recognizing that its restoration exceeds ordinary regeneration. Pride changes to unfamiliar anatomies to defeat Alfred's predictive reading, while Alfred and Theodore merge their battle sense and knowledge to overcome its adaptations temporarily. Their combined blow destroys its head but cannot exhaust the grimoire's immortality. (Chapters 75–78)
  • Ellenoa: Alfred's fragment acts within Theodore's decision to protect Ellenoa. He carries her clear of Superbia's ground strike and uses wind magic from Theodore's memories to send her away from the immediate fight. The source establishes protective battlefield action, not a prior or continuing personal relationship between Alfred and Ellenoa. (Chapter 76)
  • Blundell Adruncus: Blundell fought against the Bellontes Principality in his youth and recognizes Alfred's Magic Missile when Theodore uses it at the Magic Contest. His old wound and memory of the spell establish Alfred's historical reputation among surviving veterans, but the supplied corpus does not present a direct conversation between them. (Chapter 35)

Items

Alfred has no separately cataloged named personal item in the supplied corpus. Ballistics Magic is his original authored magic book and the medium through which Gluttony obtains the Synchro episode, spell proficiency, experience, and soul fragment, but it is not included in the planned item catalog and is therefore not linked as a separate article. His Magic Bullet is a bodily specialized spell rather than a weapon or artifact. (Chapters 6–8)
