Zergeref is a towering sound-bloodline fighter who nearly stops Gustav's extraction of Sahil.

Biography

Intercepting the captive extraction

Zergeref pursues Gustav Oslov as he carries Sahil toward extraction. Confident in greater experience and rank, he uses sound to read Gustav's movements, creates a cocoon where even whispers strike the ears explosively, and forces the Martial-ranked officer into a difficult battle while other defenders converge. (Chapters 564–566)

Cut down outside the cocoon

Gustav identifies the cocoon's boundary, pushes through injuring waves, and uses the Jiko Hakai Katana to split and disintegrate Zergeref. The victory leaves Gustav injured and encircled, while later reflection confirms he considers the sound bloodline exceptionally useful and regrets being unable to acquire it. (Chapters 567–600)

Appearance and personality

Zergeref is a buff man about seven feet nine inches tall with a deep voice. He is experienced, confident, and initially dismissive of Gustav's lower rank, but recognizes the younger fighter's abnormal strength as their exchange continues. (Chapters 564–566)

Bloodlines and abilities

Zergeref controls sound. He predicts motion through sound information, spreads a bounded cocoon, magnifies speech directly into an opponent's hearing, and projects destructive waves. The cocoon has a visible range boundary, and leaving it removes some of his control over the target. (Chapters 565–567)
