Dawn's Ballad

History

Arthur receives the translucent teal sword before beginning his life as Note and makes it his principal weapon through adventuring, academy training, and the war. Its asuran workmanship survives strains that ruin ordinary blades, but Jagrette's corrosive magic melts its tip, Uto later resists it with hardly a scratch, and Nico's soulfire eventually shatters it. Wren later returns the recovered hilt and fragments to Arthur. (Chapters 28–69, 157, 164, 178, 241, and 470)

In the final pocket-dimension battle, Arthur aligns the stored pieces and forms a spatium blade around them, briefly wielding Dawn's Ballad again against Kezess Indrath. When the spatial construction is released, the remnants return to their box rather than becoming a permanently repaired physical sword. (Chapter 531)

Properties and use

Dawn's Ballad is light, exceptionally sharp, and durable enough to channel Arthur's elemental mana and sword techniques. Its quality does not make it indestructible: acid shortens the blade, Vritra attacks damage it, and soulfire finally breaks it. The later spatium restoration depends on Arthur's godrune, not a new inherent property of the fragments. (Chapters 53–69, 157, 178, 241, and 531)
