Tabitha Helstea

Biography

Role in the story

Tabitha welcomes Reynolds Leywin and Alice Leywin into the Helstea manor while they believe Arthur has died. Her friendship gives the grieving, pregnant Alice companionship and helps the Leywins build a life in Xyrus. After Arthur returns, Tabitha argues that his talent belongs at Xyrus Academy, offers financial support, and helps make the manor a shared family home rather than temporary lodging. (Chapters 16 and 19–23)

When Arthur chooses adventuring before academy, Tabitha does more than passively approve: she joins Vincent and Lilia in giving the Leywins linked status rings so Alice can know whether Arthur's mana circulation stops. She later welcomes Arthur after the Dire Tombs, shares ordinary household life with both families, respects the Leywins' private reunion when he returns from a disappearance, and searches for Lilia Helstea after the Xyrus attack. (Chapters 28, 38–45, 72–74, and 93–99)

Appearance and personality

The supplied scenes give little fixed physical description of Tabitha, emphasizing instead her warm, socially confident presence. She is affectionate and lively, but also practical: she comforts Alice, manages the household without erasing the Leywins' independence, supports Arthur's education, and thinks about safeguards when he leaves to become an adventurer. (Chapters 16, 20, 28, and 38–41)

Relationships

  • Vincent Helstea: Tabitha and Vincent Helstea act as partners in opening their home and resources to the Leywins. She tempers his teasing and helps explain the protective gifts they choose for Arthur's family. (Chapters 16, 20, and 28)
  • Lilia Helstea: Lilia is Tabitha's daughter and first priority. Tabitha supports her place within the combined household and is among the parents searching for her after the academy assault. (Chapters 16, 20–28, and 99)
  • Alice and Arthur Leywin: Alice becomes Tabitha's close friend, while Arthur treats her as an aunt. Tabitha offers both emotional care and concrete opportunities without claiming authority over the Leywins' family decisions. (Chapters 16, 20, 28, 38, and 72)

Mana, aether, and abilities

No combat magic, mana-core level, elemental affinity, or aether ability is established for Tabitha. Her demonstrated strengths are household leadership, social support, practical judgment, and access to the resources of the Helstea trading family.

Items

  • Linked status rings: Tabitha and Vincent give Arthur and Alice a paired set that monitors Arthur's natural mana circulation and warns Alice if it stops. The rings are a family safeguard rather than Tabitha's personal equipment. (Chapter 28)
  • Helstea household resources: Her home, staff, and social access support the Leywins, but no independently notable personal artifact is established.
