Riah Faline
Riah Faline is Ada Granbehl's friend and a candidate whose fatal injury becomes the Granbehl ascent's first devastating loss.
Biography
Recorded appearances
Riah joins the Granbehls' protected preliminary ascent as Ada Granbehl's cheerful friend. Her confidence and flexible armor make the expedition initially feel controlled, but an early zone injury costs her lower leg and leaves her dependent on the group for evacuation. Ada's treatment stops the bleeding, and the others carry Riah through the ghoul attack, only for a mirror-created false Ada to reach her while she sleeps and reopen or consume the wound. Riah dies before escape, and the loss destabilizes Ada while the mirror entities exploit the group's grief and mistrust. (Chapters 298–304)
Appearance and personality
Riah is a small young woman with short hair, a perky manner, and an easy friendship with Ada. She jokes with the Granbehl siblings and poses excitedly before the ascent; after her injury, pain and blood loss sharply limit her agency. (Chapters 298–302)
Relationships
- Ada Granbehl: Riah is Ada's close friend and fellow candidate. Ada treats her wounds and stays beside her, while a mirror copy using Ada's form delivers the fatal attack. Riah's death becomes central to Ada's later collapse. (Chapters 298–304)
- The Granbehl brothers: Kalon and Ezra include Riah in their group, carry her after the amputation, and grieve her death. Their protection cannot overcome the mirror room's deception. (Chapters 298–304)
Mana, aether, and abilities
Riah has candidate-level Alacryan runic combat training and is equipped for speed, but the supplied scenes do not establish her exact rune, element, or aether ability. Her severe injury occurs before she can demonstrate a detailed signature technique. (Chapters 298–302)
Items
- Materializing armor: Riah uses leather-and-chainmail armor designed for flexibility and speed. Its precise spellform mechanics are not explained. (Chapter 298)
- Fan-bladed dagger: Her weapon has a broad, fan-like blade and a gem-set grip. No unique name or independent magical effect is established. (Chapter 298)
