Morwenna is the hamadryad great lord whose caution around Kezess gives way to direct action during Epheotus's final crisis.
Biography
Recorded appearances
Morwenna of Clan Mapellia joins the Great Eight's examination of Arthur Leywin, initially watching Kezess closely and resisting a rushed conclusion. She ultimately votes to give Clan Leywin a seat while warning Arthur that representation is responsibility rather than victory. During the Khaernos crisis, Morwenna helps restrain the rogue basilisk, grows crystalline flowers that spread healing mana to the wounded, and recognizes that his void-damaged core cannot be saved. When the wound in the world is revealed, she rejects despair and insists Agrona cannot be allowed to destroy Epheotus, but leaves after Kezess directs each lord to protect their own clan-home. Appearance and personality
Morwenna is a tall hamadryad with butter-yellow eyes, subtle wood-grain skin, bark-covered hands, and a body held so stiffly that she resembles a carved tree. She is formal, wary, duty-minded, and quick to bristle when fear sounds like surrender. (Chapters 496–497, 515, and 519)
Relationships
- Arthur Leywin: Morwenna accepts Arthur's place in the Great Eight cautiously and immediately frames it as an obligation to represent his people. She later fights beside him against Khaernos. (Chapters 496–497 and 518)
- Kezess Indrath: She watches Kezess for cues and obeys the council's hierarchy, but the final crisis exposes strain between deference to him and responsibility for Clan Mapellia. (Chapters 496–497, 515, and 519)
- Radix: Morwenna and Radix cooperate against Khaernos, then clash over whether Agrona has effectively doomed their world. (Chapters 518–519)
Mana, aether, and abilities
Morwenna grows stone-like vines, crystalline flowers, and motes of restorative mana that treat several wounded asuras. She can open a passage through a rapidly grown silver tree and dismiss her plant constructs without leaving visible remains. Her healing has limits and cannot reverse Khaernos's self-consuming void damage. No aether art is established. (Chapters 518–519)
