Dawsid Greysunders is Darv's former king and a principal architect of the royal betrayal within Dicathen's Council.

Biography

Recorded appearances

Dawsid first responds to Alea's death by demanding immediate action from the former rulers gathered in council. During Arthur Leywin's hearing after the Xyrus attack, he weaponizes that urgency and Arthur's killing of Lucas to push imprisonment while secret plans are being made to deliver Arthur to an outside power. Private scenes expose Dawsid and his wife Glaudera as willing collaborators who expect wealth, restored strength, fertility, and supremacy for the dwarves under their promised new ruler. He pressures the other former kings to honor the conspiracy and treats fear, cruelty, and personal entitlement as reasons to betray the continent he nominally helps govern. (Chapters 79 and 101–104)

Appearance and personality

Dawsid is a short, broad dwarf with a beard, a crippled mana core, and a taste for extravagant rings, drink, and display. He is loud, domineering, insecure about being respected only through royal authority, and privately cruel far beyond the political betrayal visible to the Council. (Chapters 79 and 101–104)

Relationships

  • Glaudera Greysunders: His wife shares his conspiracy, ambitions, and expectations of reward. Their private conversation shows partnership rather than reluctant association. (Chapter 104)
  • Arthur Leywin: Dawsid publicly condemns Arthur and helps arrange imprisonment while the conspirators consider transferring him to their hidden patron. (Chapters 101–103)
  • Olfred Warend: As dwarven king, Dawsid is Olfred's royal patron and one source of the Lance authority on which he bases his political power. Later pronunciation of Dawsid's name as “Dawson” does not establish a separate person. (Chapters 79 and 101–104)

Mana, aether, and abilities

Dawsid says he reached the orange-core stage and once fought mana beasts with a war axe, but an old injury permanently crippled his core. His direct scenes do not show current high-level combat or any aether ability. Royal control over Lances is political and artifact-mediated, not proof of comparable personal strength. (Chapters 101–104)
