A contested training resource

Ren learns that Manticore possesses a machine comparable to those in Leviathan and understands why Gerrard Lim monopolizes local timestamps and access. After bargaining and reshaping the dormitory's power structure, Ren uses the shared capsule to consolidate Donna's lessons and practice Keiki Style, Ring of Vindication, and Drifting Steps. One real hour feels like a full day of uninterrupted virtual training, bringing several arts closer to greater mastery without requiring a matching day outside. (Chapters 138, 152, 212–225)

Properties and functions

The capsule injects or circulates rare neuron-enhancing substances that stimulate the brain until external time appears slowed inside a virtual world. Mental practice and concentration accelerate, making the device useful for understanding and rehearsing martial arts. The body remains at normal speed, so it does not directly increase physical rank, muscle conditioning, or mana accumulation. The machine's effect is subjective acceleration rather than literal travel into the past despite its name. (Chapters 138, 152)

The neural load creates migraines and can harm the body and brain. A user is warned not to exceed five hours, while even Ren's one-hour session leaves him massaging his head. The liquid requires rare ingredients, is difficult to mass-produce, and carries high maintenance costs, explaining why access is scarce and politically valuable inside the dormitories.
