The Abyssal Mammoth Gall Bladder is a highly conspicuous demonic poison reagent taken from the monster hunted during Priscilla's recruitment quest.

History

A stolen trophy

Duke Ukhan kills the Abyssal Mammoth and claims that taking its gall bladder merely helps Priscilla Pertinol, knowing that her public expedition makes any later poisoning traceable to her. Ren Dover recognizes the organ's value and folds it into his counterplot. Its disappearance from Priscilla's returned spoils later alerts her grandfather that the house's memories and official account do not match what actually happened. (Chapters 703, 706, 720)

Melissa's poison

Melissa Hall and Priscilla process the organ into five dark-filled test tubes, including one deliberately diluted sample. Ren uses the preparations as part of the succession trap that turns Ukhan's manipulation against the demon houses. The gall bladder's recognizable provenance helps pin the deaths and missing memories to Ukhan's scheme even while Priscilla's faction secretly cooperates with Ren. (Chapters 707, 716–720)

Properties and functions

In concentrated form, poison derived from the gall bladder can kill a Duke-ranked demon if ingested. It does not immediately shatter the victim's core, delaying the signal that a high-ranked demon has died. Potency is also its main weakness: the substance is easy to detect in ordinary food or drink, so it must be force-fed or delivered through a more elaborate deception. Dilution can alter strength, but the corpus gives no dosage curve, preparation formula, or effect on nondemonic species. (Chapter 707)

Owners and users

  • Abyssal Mammoth: Biological source; the organ is removed after the creature's death. (Chapter 703)
  • Duke Ukhan: Takes the gall bladder and weaponizes its traceability against Priscilla, but does not retain final custody. (Chapter 703)
