Valyr Lordess
The Valyr Lordess, personally named Valkyria, rules a Valyr territory in the Savannah Region and is the mother of Zira. She begins as a cautious enemy of the Kitsun Lord and a pragmatic ally of Michael Fang, but her dependence on Valyr clan leadership eventually turns cooperation into a threatened border war.
Biography
Battle Exchange and Interdimensional Flag War
Valkyria receives Michael's warning about the weakened Kitsun settlements but refuses to charge into what might be a trap, balancing hatred of the Kitsun against responsibility for her territory. Once scouts and Zira confirm the opening, she cooperates with the neighboring Zynur and Laprix Lords, welcomes the wounded Michael, and rewards his decisive attack with a valuable storage satchel. Their combined victory removes Haro Ki and lets the three rulers divide his territory, though expansion immediately exposes Valkyria to new fronts and forces continued dependence on regional allies. (Chapters 382, 397, and 424)
In later trade, Valkyria's family recognizes Michael's power to strengthen weak Valyr Soultraits and seeks a profitable relationship with the Untamed Jungle. The arrangement becomes compromised when clan elders treat Michael as both a resource and a future enemy. Valkyria does not openly break with that strategy; despite Michael's earlier goodwill, she follows her elders far enough for Valyr envoys to insult his people and for relations to deteriorate. (Chapters 675, 803–810, and 889)
Trials, Divinities, and the Titan War
By the time the Untamed Jungle becomes a Grand Region, the Valyr higher-ups vote to attack its expansion. Zira informs Michael, whose forces have become powerful enough to defeat the entire Savannah Region without his personal intervention. He still hopes Valkyria will refuse or sever ties with the clan because he does not want her or Zira to die, but the corpus ends this dispute without confirming her final decision or death. (Chapter 953)
Appearance and personality
Valkyria is a middle-aged Valyr woman with red skin, a small but voluptuous humanoid body, blazing flame hair, two long black horns, bloody-red leathery wings, and a morningstar-tipped tail. Her hoarse voice contrasts with her build. She is cautious, proud, and politically pragmatic, affectionate but exasperated with Zira, and willing to reward an ally; her major weakness is allowing clan authority to override her better personal judgment. (Chapters 382 and 397)
Valyr abilities and command
Valkyria is an Awakened Lord who commands the elite Valyries and the military, settlements, and Summons of her territory. Her race has fire-associated physiology, wings, and generally strong martial traditions but weak Soultraits. The corpus does not name Valkyria's personal Soultrait, tier, or signature technique, so Zira's one-star absorption power cannot be assigned to her mother. (Chapters 382, 397, 424, and 675)
Her best-established capability is strategic command. She evaluates intelligence, coordinates with neighboring Lords, expands and defends conquered land, and participates in regional trade. Those choices can preserve her territory against immediate threats, but her later submission to clan policy limits her independence and turns political authority into a source of danger. (Chapters 382, 424, 803–810, and 889)
Relationships
- Zira: Valkyria's daughter and prospective successor. She worries over Zira's recklessness, draws on her scouting, and later risks both their lives by complying with clan policy.
- Michael Fang: Initially a valuable ally who eliminates their shared Kitsun enemy. Trade and Soultrait support follow, then sour when the Valyr leadership tries to exploit and prepare against him.
- Haro Ki: The Kitsun Lord is her longstanding regional enemy. His defeat enables her territorial expansion.
- Zynur Lord and Laprix Lord: Neighboring rulers who cooperate with Valkyria against Haro Ki and divide the conquered land.
- Valyr clan elders: The higher authority that constrains her regional rule and pushes her toward conflict with Michael.
Items
- Crystal throne: A seat of office in Valkyria's headquarters, nearly damaged when anger makes her grip its armrest.
- Non-Artifact storage satchel: Valkyria and the neighboring Lords give this large-capacity container to Michael as thanks and compensation.
