Ragnar Kyle

Ragnar Kyle is the Complete Saint strategist of the Ashenhelm Clan and Sauren's trusted aide. He designs psychological traps meant to dismantle ExceedoGenesis through Nux's devotion to his wives, then helps redirect Ashenhelm's failed strategy toward the families those wives left behind.

Biography

The challenge built around Amaya

Ragnar enters the conflict after Arcturus's campaign against Nux has stalled. He designs a public challenge whose apparent fairness is intended to hide its real purpose: Ashenhelm expects Nux to refuse because Arcturus can capture him if he appears, then plans to shame him as a coward and offer safety to his wives one at a time. By breaking their trust, taking their affiliations and resources, and isolating Nux socially, Ragnar hopes to force him into surrender without needing to find his hidden base. (Chapter 1181)

Ragnar specifically chooses Amaya as the first stake. He advises against targeting Melia because doing so could advertise fear of the Vampires and damage Arcturus's image, but also admits that he personally wants Amaya and will abandon that desire if it endangers the larger plan. Arcturus approves, and Sauren delivers the public statement using Ragnar's design. The provocation succeeds only in producing a response: Amaya is disgusted and ExceedoGenesis accepts the challenge on its own terms rather than fracturing. (Chapters 1181–1183)

The apparent Nux who comes to the event is a Devil-created illusion. While Ragnar and two other Complete Saints perceive an ordinary proceeding, the illusion masks the slaughter of almost every other Ashenhelm member. Ragnar survives but cannot identify the manipulation until the false world cracks, and his explanation allows Sauren to recognize the attacker. The failure reverses Ragnar's intended pressure: instead of stripping Nux's family away, the plan costs Ashenhelm its own people. (Chapter 1187)

Retaliation through the Lust State

Ragnar remains Sauren's strategist after the massacre and helps exploit Aisha's attachment to the Lust State. They support a Dragon assault intended to lure Nux out and make him experience the loss of people connected to his wives. Ragnar investigates Aisha's family ties, predicts that she will pressure Nux to intervene, and stands with Sauren to observe the result. When Nux's side wipes out the lower-stage Dragon force, Ragnar pivots to using the millions of Succubi as leverage, arguing that a Divine-stage battle will kill everyone Nux cannot evacuate. (Chapters 1232–1234)

The leverage fails because Nux has already prepared portals and substitutes. Ragnar initially reads Nux's cold refusal to save the state as genuine and is horrified by his willingness to exploit his wife's grief; the display is itself a manipulation designed to bait Sauren into a deathmatch. While Nux's people evacuate the Succubi, Ragnar walks toward the surviving Divine Dragons with Sauren and does not receive a separate resolution. Before the later deathmatch, Nux asks whether Ragnar is present because he dislikes leaving loose ends, and Sauren says not to worry about him without explaining further. That exchange does not establish whether Ragnar is alive, dead, captured, or merely absent, so his final fate remains unresolved. (Chapters 1234–1235, 1250)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not provide Ragnar Kyle's physical features, clothing, age, or race. He should not be confused with the orange-haired Flame Demon who leads the Destruction Clan or with Ragnar Leander, Astaria's later-born son; those are separate characters who share his given name. (Chapters 1156–1157, 1181, 2307)

Ragnar is calculating, deferential toward superior power, and adept at presenting personal desire as strategic advice. He studies family bonds and public reputation, but treats women and civilians as pressure points rather than people. His plans correctly identify Nux's emotional priorities while repeatedly underestimating his preparation, unconventional abilities, and willingness to deceive in return. Ragnar can revise tactics after failure, though his later Lust State strategy repeats the same core assumption that family vulnerability can force Nux into a predictable response. (Chapters 1181–1187, 1232–1235)

Abilities and cultivation

Complete Saint-stage cultivation

Ragnar is one of three Complete Saints left alive during the illusionary destruction of Ashenhelm. This establishes his formal stage but not a successful combat feat: the Devil's illusion prevents him from recognizing the massacre, and he does not attack during the Lust State confrontation. The corpus supplies no cultivation method, Law, affinity, weapon, named technique, range, cost, or later advancement. His survival at Ashenhelm reflects that the attacker concealed events rather than a demonstrated resistance to the illusion. (Chapters 1181, 1187, 1232–1235)

Strategy and psychological pressure

Ragnar constructs multi-stage plans around reputation, romantic loyalty, and family exposure. The Ashenhelm challenge uses public humiliation to try to separate Nux from his wives, while the Lust State assault uses mass civilian danger to force a rescue. These are learned analytical applications, not magical mind control. Both fail when Nux employs hidden allies, illusions, portals, and calculated bluffs that Ragnar's intelligence cannot account for. His latest mastery therefore remains that of a trusted clan strategist with demonstrated planning skill but two major strategic defeats. (Chapters 1181–1187, 1232–1235)

Relationships

  • Sauren: Sauren is Ragnar's clan leader and principal collaborator. He presents Ragnar's plan to Arcturus, keeps Ragnar as his trusted aide after Ashenhelm's destruction, and shares his desire to make Nux suffer a comparable loss. (Chapters 1181–1187, 1232–1250)
  • Arcturus: Ragnar tailors his proposals to Arcturus's pride and concern for the Dragon Continent's image. Arcturus approves his first plan and later supplies the Dragon force used against the Lust State. (Chapters 1181, 1232–1235)
  • Nux: Ragnar studies Nux's love for his wives as the weakness around which both schemes are built. Nux and the Devil repeatedly turn those assumptions against Ashenhelm, and Nux later identifies Ragnar as an unresolved enemy. (Chapters 1181–1187, 1232–1250)
  • Amaya: Ragnar chooses Amaya as the first wife Ashenhelm will attempt to take and openly admits attraction to her. Amaya responds with disgust and supports accepting the challenge, making his objectification a catalyst for the plan's reversal rather than a relationship. (Chapters 1181–1183)
  • Aisha: Ragnar targets Aisha indirectly by attacking her homeland and family connections, expecting her concern to draw Nux into the open. The plan endangers her people but fails to trap its intended target. (Chapters 1232–1235)
