Kaal

Kaal Nightshade is the reserved ruler of the Shadow Demon State and father of Yrniel's Hero of Demons. His recognition of Lane's potential gives her access to the Shadow Demon Trial, but his later refusal to defend the Lust State places him among the Demon Lords forced to seek Nux's favor.

Biography

Recognizing Lane's potential

Kaal first observes Lane during the gathering after Nux and Melia's union. While other rulers focus on more obvious bloodlines and physiques, Kaal studies Lane and identifies potential that even Nux does not understand. A man of few words, he stays behind after the gathering and directly invites her to the Shadow Demon State's Trial Tower. Vyriana later treats his judgment as credible, calling him a competent ruler whose assessment should be acted upon. (Chapters 990–1021)

Lane's trial turns her into a Shadow Demon and awakens the independent Shadow associated with her bloodline.
