Azhural

Azhural is an Eqarion faction leader within the Independent People of Galactic Association. Publicly presented as Zarathor's long-term ally, he is actually bound to him by an Oath of Subordination. That lost freedom forces Azhural and his army into Zarathor's attempt to enslave Nyssara, where Azhural is ultimately killed.

Biography

An alliance enforced by an oath

Azhural arrives with an army comparable to those of Zarathor and Nyssara, apparently giving his old ally a decisive numerical advantage. His presence forces Nyssara to abandon her initial plan rather than fight their combined forces. Once she leaves the room, however, Azhural challenges Zarathor's behavior and reacts bitterly when shown another black oath paper. The exchange reveals that Zarathor had previously trapped him in the same way: Azhural had lost a contest over a world and was compelled to take the Oath of Subordination. (Chapter 1518)

The oath turns the apparent alliance into a Master-subordinate relationship. Azhural considers Zarathor a coward and recognizes that better judgment might have kept him out of the trap, but he cannot simply leave. When Nyssara tries to escape and report them to the Association, Azhural helps pursue her because disclosure would expose their actions while the oath would keep him beside Zarathor as the Association retaliated. His motive is therefore survival under constraint, not demonstrated approval of Zarathor's plan. (Chapters 1518–1519)

Defections, battle, and death

Vyriana then impersonates a superior from a hidden organization and persuades both Nyssara and Azhural that Zarathor has been an outside faction's puppet. Azhural feels newly betrayed, but Zarathor's denial does not release him. When Vyriana orders Nyssara to prove herself against Zarathor, Nyssara appeals to the armies' self-interest; many soldiers from Azhural's camp defect, citing his lost freedom as evidence of failed leadership. Azhural remains on Zarathor's side and enters the resulting war while five of Nyssara's strongest subordinates hold him away from the main clash. (Chapters 1520–1523)

Nyssara eventually activates Serpenthri's Rebirth, restoring her side and temporarily multiplying her own strength. Instead of striking the more cautious Zarathor first, she pierces Azhural's chest, tears out his heart, and crushes it before he can retaliate. His death immediately lowers his army's morale and helps turn Zarathor's numerical disadvantage into a rout. A later account indicates that most Hornari aligned with Azhural also died in the wider destruction, while a few who had remained loyal to Zalang survived; it does not establish every individual follower's fate. Appearance and personality

Azhural is approximately six meters tall, with dark-brown skin and a face resembling a demonic horse, traits associated with his Eqarion race. The corpus supplies no eye color, clothing description, apparent age, or further distinguishing feature. (Chapter 1518)

He is wary and resentful rather than openly rebellious. He sees through the danger in Nyssara's attempted escape and recognizes that his own failure of judgment led to his enslavement, but acts within the narrow choices left by the oath. His emotionless manner before Zarathor masks anger; once he believes Zarathor serves outsiders, that anger surfaces as a direct accusation. (Chapters 1518–1520)

Abilities and cultivation

Azhural is an Ultimate Stage cultivator and commands a force comparable to those of the other Association faction leaders. Nyssara initially judges his individual battle power similar to hers and Zarathor's, perhaps stronger in some respects, but the corpus never shows a named attack or a direct victory from him. Five elite Ultimate Stage opponents can keep him occupied during the war, without the text describing their exchanges. (Chapters 1518 and 1523)

Vyriana's assessment places Azhural among locally powerful but underdeveloped cultivators: the faction leaders lack refined techniques, abilities, and intent by the standards of Yrniel's Order, and any Laws present in their forces are rare and weak. This is a group assessment, not proof that Azhural personally formed a Law. His affinity, cultivation method, race-specific abilities, Law status, activation conditions, costs, and counters remain unknown. (Chapter 1522)

Nyssara kills Azhural during a temporary fivefold enhancement by destroying his heart before he can respond. The scene establishes vulnerability to overwhelming speed and lethal organ damage, but does not show whether Azhural had a defensive technique or whether other injuries had already reduced him. He displays no progression before his death. (Chapters 1523–1525)

Relationships

• Zarathor: Zarathor calls Azhural an ally but has actually enslaved him through an Oath of Subordination. Azhural resents him, yet the oath and their shared exposure force him to fight on Zarathor's side. (Chapters 1518–1520)
• Nyssara: Nyssara begins as the target whom Azhural's arrival is meant to corner. She later wins over many of his soldiers and kills him while empowered by Serpenthri's Rebirth. (Chapters 1518–1525)
• Vyriana: Vyriana's impersonation convinces Azhural that Zarathor has deceived him about a second layer of control. Her manufactured conflict places him in the war that ends his life, though she does not attack him directly. (Chapters 1520–1525)

Items

No personal weapon or artifact is attributed to Azhural. The black-paper Oath of Subordination governs his actions, but Zarathor holds and uses the oath; it is an instrument of Azhural's enslavement rather than his possession. Its exact enforcement mechanism and the terms unique to Azhural are not shown. (Chapters 1518–1519)
