Aurelian

Aurelian Stillwalker is the Divine-stage Empress of the Empire of Eternity and the ruler responsible for opening Yrniel's Human Trials. Her relationship with Nux moves from expensive cooperation to an attempted alliance after his victory over Arcturus, ending when her refusal to yield before Vyriana costs her life.

Biography

A Human ruler guarding access to the Trials

Aurelian first appears among Yrniel's world leaders at Melia's wedding, answering insults toward Human rulers and refusing to let other races frame migration as uniquely Human failure. Her place among the invited leaders and later dealings with the Trial establish her as one of the Human faction's principal authorities. (Chapters 970–971)

Nux enters her Imperial Hall while seeking an early opening of the Human Trials. Aurelian is amused rather than immediately hostile, but explains that the next scheduled opening is 157 years away and that activating the towers for one person wastes enormous resources. She eventually agrees after Nux provides one and a half times the required amount, using her control of access to extract a premium while still acting within Ancestral Order rules. She observes Nux's wives reach the thirtieth Trial wave and recognizes that their group violates normal expectations. When Arcturus later speaks to the Human rulers as though they are subordinates, Aurelian threatens war if he demeans her again. Arcturus retracts his words. Her pride is therefore not empty posturing within the ordinary balance of Divine rulers; it successfully defends her standing among peers. (Chapters 1209–1211)

A late alliance and a fatal refusal

Aurelian remains neutral when Arcturus targets Nux. After Nux emerges victorious, she tries to reverse that decision by offering permanent free access to the Human Trials in exchange for an alliance between ExceedoGenesis and the Empire of Eternity. Nux identifies the offer as opportunism: she declined risk when he needed allies and now seeks his strength once the outcome is safe. (Chapter 1281)

When Nux refuses the alliance and demands another Trial opening, Aurelian maintains her condition. Vyriana intervenes, orders her to comply, and threatens a massacre when she continues resisting. Aurelian invokes the Ancestral Order and refuses to be treated as powerless, applying the same pride that had worked against Arcturus to a fighter far beyond Yrniel's rulers. Vyriana kills her before Nux can perceive the attack. (Chapters 1282–1283)

Vyriana appoints a replacement ruler, preventing an immediate succession struggle from consuming the Empire. Aurelian receives no revival, and later discussion treats her death as final. Her end demonstrates that the political protections surrounding a Divine Empress operate only while stronger beings choose to recognize them. (Chapter 1283)

Appearance and personality

Aurelian has long blue hair and blue eyes. The corpus does not state her height, age, clothing, build, or any distinctive regalia beyond her role as Empress. (Chapter 970)

She is proud, politically assertive, resource-conscious, and opportunistic. She can negotiate calmly with an intruder and stand against a stronger peer, but she also charges Nux more than the stated Trial requirement and seeks alliance only after his victory. Her fatal mistake is not simple ignorance of danger—Nux repeatedly warns her—but confidence that office and the Order will restrain Vyriana. (Chapters 1176–1211 and 1281–1283)

Abilities and cultivation

Divine-stage cultivation

Aurelian is a Divine-stage Human ruler. Her stage places her among Yrniel's strongest political leaders and lets her face Arcturus's pressure without submitting, but the corpus does not name her Path, element, Law, Domain, weapon, training history, or a representative attack. She has no demonstrated counter to power far above the world-leader tier. Vyriana kills her so quickly that Nux cannot see how or when she moved. The event establishes an overwhelming speed and power gap, not the precise durability of Aurelian against equal Divines. No cultivation progression is shown before death. (Chapters 1282–1283)

Authority over the Human Trials

Aurelian can arrange and authorize activation of the Human Trial towers when supplied with the required resources. The activation is institutional and artifact-dependent rather than an innate technique: she must manage the process, and opening it outside schedule consumes resources normally considered unjustifiable for one person. Her control is politically valuable but not absolute. She initially uses it to demand extra resources and later an alliance, while Vyriana's superior force removes her ability to enforce either condition. The source does not detail the activation ritual, tower mechanics under Aurelian's control, or whether another qualified ruler can perform the same work; Vyriana's appointment of a successor implies the office can continue without her.
