Leonidas

Leonidas is Agartha's most notorious C-rank-and-below gladiator, a scarred mercenary leader whose courage earns him a second life in Lux's army. His first defeat ends in Blackfire's custody; his rebirth preserves his face and command instincts while remaking him as an infernal, flame-wielding warrior.

Biography

The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Leonidas takes command of three hundred gladiators in the Coliseum deathmatch, organizing elemental defenses and summoning a peak-Argonaut Manticore. Promised freedom if Lux and Gaap die, he nevertheless acts as a genuine battlefield leader, sharing rewards and rallying hardened criminals. His spear mastery pushes the lower-ranked Lux backward until the Half-Elf's superior weapon and summoning options change the contest (Chapters 837–841).

Removing his limiters, Leonidas asks the remaining gladiators to entrust their lives to him and uses Power Assimilation to reach High-Ranker strength. He still cannot overpower Deus Gigantia, yet the crowd's faith and his determination let him push through the giant spear until his own tip touches Lux's position. He collapses only after confirming that he reached his opponent, and Blackfire catches and swallows him with the surviving gladiators (Chapters 842–845).

Lux refuses King Septimius's offers for Leonidas's release and plans to combine a cursed spear with Beast Cores for his revival. Blackfire later produces a red-skinned Leonidas whose face remains the same, now carrying a flaming spear and shield and willingly addressing Lux as Master. He leads the restored gladiators in a burning rotating phalanx during Andras's invasion, converting his old command discipline into undead service (Chapters 847, 854, 863, 901, 904).

The rescue from the Abyss and the final war

Leonidas accompanies later campaigns as one of Lux's strongest field commanders. During the escape through the Abyss, he rides Blackfire and summons numerous shields around Sleipnir against incoming ranged attacks. In the final war he is grouped just below the most conspicuous peak Demigods and brings part of the hundred-thousand-strong forces against Golden Abominations, showing that his second life continues to scale far beyond his original C-Ranker baseline (Chapters 1162, 1187).

Appearance and personality

The living Leonidas is nearly two meters tall and covered in scars. His initial description calls him gray-haired and gray-eyed, while the later unmasking describes long black hair and blue eyes; the corpus does not reconcile that discrepancy. He is intimidating, candid about his crimes, and fiercely courageous. Reborn, his recognizable face remains, but red skin intermittently erupts in flames, giving him an Abyssal appearance (Chapters 837, 842–844, 901).

Gladiator and infernal abilities

Leonidas is a master spearman and battlefield commander who can summon a peak-Argonaut Manticore. Power Assimilation absorbs ten percent of the statistics of each willing participant, up to three hundred people, temporarily raising his rank. It lasts fifteen minutes; afterward Leonidas and everyone housed within him cannot lift a finger, making it an all-or-nothing last resort rather than sustainable advancement (Chapters 837–843).

After rebirth, Leonidas uses a flaming spear and shield, directs shield-and-spear phalanxes, and turns their formation into a spinning dome of fire. He can summon multiple defensive shields at range and retains command over the restored gladiators. The exact mechanics of his increased final-war rank are not given, and his early Manticore is not shown after rebirth, so its continued availability cannot be assumed (Chapters 901, 904, 1162, 1187).

Relationships

• Lux: Leonidas begins as Lux's executioner, earns his admiration through courage, and accepts him as master after Blackfire's rebirth (Chapters 841–845, 901).
• Eiko: Eiko's six Manticores pressure Leonidas's strongest summon and help force the escalating deathmatch, though Lux reserves Leonidas as his own opponent (Chapters 837–841).
• King Septimius: Septimius values Leonidas enough to negotiate repeatedly for his freedom, but Lux refuses to return him (Chapter 863).
• Calypso: Calypso's spear form helps test Leonidas's living skill, while her later light barrage complements his shield defense during the Abyss escape (Chapters 840–841, 1162).
