Kieran

Kieran is a black-haired Saint of Memento Mori and the master of Lorelei. His old resentment toward Gaap drives a competitive wager between their disciples, but his actions during the resulting crisis show that rivalry does not wholly erase his loyalty to other Necromancers.

Biography

The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Kieran greets Gaap at the Ancestral Grounds with insults, boasts that he killed the Divine Army members sent after him, and agrees to stake his own service on a duel between Lorelei and Lux. His contempt comes from the belief that Gaap abandoned Hereswith during her last battle, whereas Kieran remembers staying to fight when his own master was besieged. He has also shaped Lorelei into a newly advanced Ranker with an enormous undead host. When Divine Army Saints invade, however, Kieran helps shield Lux rather than letting the wager become an excuse for murder. After Lux’s breakthrough, Gaap accepts a future favor instead of humiliating him, leaving their antagonism tempered by a concrete debt. (Chapters 755, 762, 769, 774, 779)

The Divine Army reckoning

Kieran later visits the Ancestral Grounds to speak with Dracul and learns that the Divine Army intends to execute Gaap. His immediate disbelief becomes concern when Lux confirms the report, but Lux does not ask him or Memento Mori for help because Gaap is not recognized as one of their members. The scene leaves Kieran caught between personal rivalry, organizational boundaries, and the old history he shares with Hereswith’s circle.
