Great General Watson, full name Watson Reid, is a senior Yelan commander and Great General Sherlock’s battlefield counterpart. Where Sherlock plans, Watson executes, rallying armies with direct orders, personal courage, and a readiness to trust unconventional mercenaries.

Biography

The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain

Watson welcomes Lux’s group into the Yelan army while candidly admitting its numerical disadvantage. He relies on Sherlock for strategy but retains command judgment, granting Lux three hundred Grade-B soldiers after recognizing that the mercenaries may break the stalemate. Poison smoke then devastates his front line and forces retreat; rather than freeze after the loss, he carries out Sherlock’s counterattack, leads the charge, and duels Moriarty personally until Cai prevents the enemy general from killing him. Later continental campaigns establish Watson as one of the officers whose service inside the Domain corresponds to an enduring Yelan leadership role. He and Sherlock protect the kingdom’s central fronts, supervise rewards for Lux, and coordinate scouts after the monster outbreak. Watson’s contribution remains operational rather than intellectual vanity: even when reporting from afar, his information determines where the remaining threat lies and lets Sherlock plan the next move. During the wave of monster attacks, Watson and Sherlock lead the main Yelan army against a Dreadnaught-ranked Giant Earth Turtle in the east while General Fahad holds Peyton. Lux’s insistence on finding them reflects the trust created in their earlier campaign, and their survival preserves unified command across the kingdom. Watson’s latest direct contribution is reconnaissance through the scouts under his authority, confirming that no further monster army threatens Yelan territory before Lux advances. Appearance and personality

Watson is a bald, two-meter-tall man whose broad build resembles a professional wrestler. He usually wears an easy smile and jokes even in grim circumstances, but his happy-go-lucky expression disappears when he asks Lux to break the stalemate. He is blunt about losses, comfortable delegating strategy to Sherlock, and personally brave enough to lead cavalry and accept Moriarty’s duel rather than hide behind rank. Chapter 314 introduces him as “Watson Reid” but attributes that same spoken line to “Bruce.” Because the surrounding passage and all later appearances consistently identify the commander as Watson, “Bruce” is treated here as an isolated attribution error rather than an established alias. Army command and tactical execution

Watson commands large infantry, archer, and cavalry formations, times volleys, manages retreats, and rapidly transmits warnings through the chain of command. He openly says Sherlock makes the strategy while he executes it, but implementation still requires judgment: he limits Lux’s detachment to three hundred soldiers because the main line is short-handed and immediately orders retreat when poisonous smoke threatens the army. Greatsword fighting

Watson rides with the leading charge and fights Moriarty with a greatsword. Their blows break the ground, and Watson can match the exhausted enemy general until a feint opens his shoulder and leaves him exposed to a killing strike. Cai’s intervention saves him, so the duel demonstrates genuine frontline strength without supporting invulnerability or a named supernatural technique.
