General Fahad

General Fahad, full name Fahad Durnham, is a Yelan Ranker and field commander responsible for the kingdom’s marshland and eastern defenses. He combines attritional tactics, personal swordsmanship, and a soldier’s concern for civilians with a father’s determination to keep his son Leo alive.

Biography

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

Fahad first opposes the Ammarian army in the marshlands, where hidden remote mines and timed cavalry attacks let his smaller force win repeated exchanges. When Lux reveals his allegiance and offers a path to victory, Fahad immediately pursues the retreating enemy generals rather than waste the opening. He and Benjamin pressure Second, restore Yelan control over the sector, and then reinforce the wider front, accepting Lux’s unusual necromantic assistance because protecting the kingdom matters more than prejudice. The wider campaign makes Fahad a link between Lux and Yelan’s senior commanders. He travels without rest to Glouswell Forest after an emergency report, guards Lux’s Blood Golem from hostile Rankers, and asks the Half-Elf to reinforce Carran when his own position cannot be abandoned. His decisions repeatedly balance aggression against coverage: he leaves most troops behind while traveling and commits men only where their absence will not expose the homeland. The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

When a monster army threatens Peyton, Fahad welcomes Lux as a proven war hero but prepares for a last stand rather than assume rescue is certain. He strips his son Leo of command and has him forcibly evacuated, choosing the kingdom’s future and his child’s survival over Leo’s desire to die beside him. Once Lux creates an opening, Fahad assigns his forces the Argonaut-ranked threats, personally hunts Deimos monsters inside the breached city, orders the wounded withdrawn, and ends the battle by raising Yelan’s flag. Afterward, Fahad reports the battle to Sherlock and Watson and helps confirm that the dead have passed on rather than remaining as hostile spirits. His latest position is that of a surviving commander who has defended the same kingdom from both human invasion and monster catastrophe, with his alliance with Lux strengthened by two separate campaigns. Appearance and personality

Fahad is introduced as a middle-aged man; the corpus gives no consistent hair or eye description, emphasizing instead his authoritative voice, grim battlefield focus, and habit of leading from the front. He is decisive without being reckless, willing to recognize Lux’s contribution, and protective of soldiers and civilians. Fahad fights with a sword at Ranker level and can engage Second, an enemy slightly stronger than him, when supported by Benjamin. He blocks deadly blows, exploits openings created by Lux’s summons, and can rapidly kill a Rank 5 monster during Peyton’s defense. His limits are explicit: Second’s speed and superior individual strength make a one-on-one victory doubtful, so Fahad relies on coordinated pressure rather than pretending rank alone guarantees success. Field tactics and cavalry command

Fahad uses concealed mines, spell and arrow volleys, cavalry pursuit, layered defense, and controlled withdrawal. His strongest plans exploit terrain and timing: remote explosions disorder the enemy in marshland, ranged forces strike retreating troops after an avalanche, and elite units intercept high-ranked monsters inside a breached city. These methods require prepared ground, subordinate discipline, and enough manpower; when fronts multiply, he must leave forces behind or request reinforcement rather than command everywhere at once.
