Carol
Carol is a blue-haired, doll-like Named Creature in Gaap's thirteen-member Covenant. She combines domestic care with close protection, shielding her aging master from sunlight and hostile observers, summoning zombie attendants, and remaining at his side through his campaign against the Divine Empire.
Biography
The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss
Carol first appears beside Gaap during the monster invasion, holding an umbrella to protect him from the sun and arranging refreshments through two zombie maids. When Lux needs to scout the Ammarian border while Gaap sleeps, Carol explicitly accepts responsibility for her master's safety. These scenes establish her service as active guardianship rather than decoration: her presence frees allies to act while ensuring the physically declining Halfling is not left unattended (Chapters 699, 702).
As Gaap's health worsens, Carol worries over him, receives his empty tonic bottle, and joins the full thirteen-member Covenant when he calls them to battle. In Agartha, Baal entrusts Gaap's protection to her; Carol summons her maids, positions them around him, and personally stands between her master and an approaching Saint. She later shields him from a dangerous heat wave and urges him to retreat, though Gaap chooses to trust his other servants and remain (Chapters 770, 856, 858, 860).
The Divine Army reckoning
During Gaap's confrontation with the Divine Empire, Carol amplifies his voice so his accusations and insults reach the entire city. The ability makes her part of his psychological and public attack, not only his bodyguard. When his lifespan finally gives out, she takes his free hand, cries, and says she will miss him. Gaap thanks her for always staying beside him and specifically remembers the herbal beverages she prepared (Chapters 976, 983).
Carol's last confirmed scene is therefore one of bereavement rather than defeat. She remains present and responsive as Gaap dies, but the supplied chapters do not state whether she later enters another contract, continues independently, or disappears with the Covenant's former arrangement. Her custody and activity after Chapter 983 should consequently be treated as unknown rather than inferred from Gaap's death (Chapter 983).
Appearance and personality
Carol resembles a doll-like young woman with blue hair and wears a black Gothic Lolita dress. She commonly carries an umbrella while attending Gaap. Her speech is gentle, formal, and attentive, but her protective behavior is decisive: she blocks sightlines, posts summoned maids as guards, and places herself between Gaap and possible danger. Her grief at his death confirms that the bond is emotionally personal as well as contractual (Chapters 699, 770, 856, 983).
Covenant and attendant abilities
Carol can summon at least two zombie maids, who provide refreshments, massage Gaap, and take defensive positions around him. She can also amplify a speaker's voice across the Divine City, allowing Gaap to address an entire population without lowering his confrontational tone. As a Covenant member she appears armed when Gaap summons all thirteen servants, but the corpus neither names her weapon nor shows a killer move. Her protection reduces ordinary exposure and access; it cannot reverse Gaap's exhausted lifespan (Chapters 699, 770, 856, 976, 983).
Relationships
- Gaap: Carol's master and the focus of her service, protection, daily care, and final grief (Chapters 699, 702, 770, 983).
- Baal: A fellow Covenant member who trusts Carol to guard Gaap while others fight (Chapter 856).
- Lux: Gaap's disciple, who accepts Carol's assurance that she can protect their sleeping master (Chapter 702).
