Wolyeong

Wolyeong is one of the Demonic Cult's Four Demon Lords and the commander of its Shadow Corpse Squadron. He is a distinct cult officer rather than another name for the Bloody Demon, Flame Ghost Demon, or Sword Demon, even though the four commanders often act together under the Heavenly Demon and her successor.

Biography

The ruined cult's final battle

Wolyeong is among the senior cultists attacked during the jiangshi epidemic that destroys So Baek-hyang's world. After his death and transformation, Kim Gong-ja kills the infected martial artists so that Hundred Ghosts Reincarnation can restore their memories and appearances for a final Righteous-Demonic War. Recognizing So Baek-hyang again, Wolyeong joins the battle as the Shadow Corpse Squadron's leader and fights a brutal sword duel against the Mudang faction leader Hyun Gong Jin. The restored contest gives him and the other dead cultists the factional ending the epidemic had denied them. (Chapters 66 and 80–81)

Loyalty to a new young master

After So Baek-hyang dies, Wolyeong watches Gong-ja demonstrate the Infernal Heavens Demonic Art and kneels with the other surviving manifestations to recognize him as the cult's successor. He formally pledges the Shadow Corpse Squadron to the new Young Master, making his continued service a consequence of Gong-ja inheriting the doctrine rather than a change of personal identity. Gong-ja later summons Wolyeong for the defense of Raviel's wedding, where the Warhorse's blessing temporarily restores the dead cultists' prime abilities. Wolyeong then accepts an introduction to Raviel and continues appearing as part of the Four Demon Lords within Gong-ja's summoned household. (Chapters 85 and 116–118)

Appearance

Wolyeong is a male martial artist whose stable physical details are only sparsely described. He appears in martial dress among the Demonic Cult's black-robed forces and is composed enough to brush back his hair before battle. His manner changes with context: he is ferocious and laughing against an orthodox opponent, but restrained, formal, and immediately obedient when addressing Gong-ja as Young Master.

Abilities and skills

Sword combat

Wolyeong is an accomplished swordsman trusted with one of the Demonic Cult's four elite commands. In the restored Great Battle, he clashes directly with Hyun Gong Jin, smashes the opponent's teeth with his sword hilt, and continues laughing after receiving a vicious counterattack to the eyes. The scene emphasizes endurance, aggression, and close-quarters improvisation rather than naming a unique personal sword system. (Chapter 81)

Squadron command and restored strength

As leader of the Shadow Corpse Squadron, Wolyeong commands a distinct body of Demonic Cult martial artists and can pledge that unit's service to a successor. Hundred Ghosts Reincarnation preserves his memories and personality after death but normally does not return a dead person's original abilities. During Raviel's wedding, the Warhorse's battlefield blessing temporarily fixes Gong-ja's summons at their prime, allowing Wolyeong and the other cultists to use enhanced hearing, internal energy, movement arts, and coordinated combat against the invading ghost legion. (Chapters 85 and 116)
