Thrash's Protection

Thrash's Protection is a cursed relic of the God of Destruction and one of the five pieces of Thrash's Set. Although most of its functions are sealed by damage, its surviving Infinite Soul Storage skill removes the normal limit on the souls surrounding Kang Woojin through Phantom Armor.

History and role

From recipe to Ratick holy relic

Woojin first encounters Thrash's Protection as the name of a recipe he purchases while planning how to rebuild Thrash's Set. He later finds the actual relic on Jaku, where a Ratick settlement has raised its surviving cape as both a flag and a holy relic. The cape's ambient curse repels ordinary monsters, though it cannot stop a horde led by a Predator. Relick hands it over under Woojin's threat, ending the Ratick community's custodianship. (Chapters 36 and 71)

The item display identifies the relic as damaged armor and cape: its shoulder armor and breastplate are missing, and only the cape remains. Most effects, skills, and its set effect are sealed, while the surviving properties include Control +100 and Infinite Soul Storage. Ratick witnesses expect its curse to melt Woojin as it had killed three Dimensional Lords, but he wears it unharmed. The text establishes that Thrash's Curse veers away from him without fully explaining why; merely draping the cape across a Drake's nose produces no effect, and Woojin only speculates that a victim may have to wear it. Soul reservoir and completed set

Woojin continues wearing the damaged Protection after returning to Alphen. Its unsealed storage function lets Phantom Armor retain souls without an upper limit even while the relic's other powers remain inaccessible. In battle, those souls can be consumed as defensive barriers or converted into magical energy: after a mass Corpse Explosion, Protection draws in nearby souls and allows Woojin to refill his depleted reserves. The supply is powerful but finite in practice because each barrier and each burst of recovery spends stored souls. (Chapters 77, 88, and 90)

Protection remains the chest component when Woojin completes all five pieces of Thrash's Set. The completed set multiplies his Control, restores Death Field, and returns other abilities he commanded on Alphen, but those are set-wide effects rather than properties demonstrated by Protection alone. The corpus still describes Protection as needing repair before this completion and does not separately show its missing armor being restored. (Chapters 79 and 90)

Abilities and properties

• Infinite Soul Storage: While Woojin wears the cape, Phantom Armor no longer has an upper limit on stored souls. Those souls can form small protective barriers and support instant magical-energy recovery, but both uses consume the reserve. (Chapters 71, 77, 88, and 90)
• Damaged attributes: The surviving cape grants Control +100, while three other effects, two other skills, and the item's individual set effect are initially shown as sealed. Its full undamaged capabilities are not displayed. (Chapter 71)
• Thrash's Curse: The relic's presence repels ordinary monsters, and wearing it killed prior Dimensional Lords by melting their bodies. Woojin is an exception because the curse veers away from him; the precise eligibility rule and activation mechanism remain uncertain. (Chapter 71)
• Set component: Protection is the chest piece among Thrash's five relics. Completing the entire set unlocks major bonuses, but the text does not attribute those bonuses to Protection in isolation. (Chapters 79 and 90)
