Ramson
Ramson is a dwarven Death Knight in Kang Woojin's Immortal Army. A warrior and smith, he rides with the undead vanguard and fights with a war hammer that stores absorbed impacts before releasing them with greater force. Away from battle, Alandal's expanded Dimensional Domain gives him a smithy where he can resume the craft he practiced before undeath. (Chapters 43, 45, 49, 53, 64, 66, 69, 71, 73, 82, 84, 88)
Biography
Service in the Immortal Army
Ramson returns as one of Woojin's newly leveled Death Knights and eagerly charges into the campaign against the insurgents, jockeying with Kiba and the other knights to reach battle first. He later blocks Juliel's attacks, wrestles the enemy to create an opening for another knight, and continues serving through the Immortal Army's dimensional wars. Alandal's larger Domain also gives him a smithy, allowing his former occupation to coexist with military service. Later references place Ramson beside the army's commanders and still swinging his hammer amid an unbroken stream of enemies, with no stated destruction or release from service. (Chapters 43, 45, 49, 53, 58, 64, 66, 69, 71, 73, 82, 84, 88)
Appearance and personality
Ramson is identified as a dwarf and appears as an armored Death Knight carrying a war hammer. Juliel's attack shears away part of his helm, but the chapters do not describe the face or skull beneath it, his height beyond his dwarven identity, or distinctive armor colors. He also rides a Phantom Steed when charging with Woojin's mounted undead. (Chapters 45, 49)
He is boisterous, martial, and enthusiastic about both battle and craft. Ramson laughs with the Death Knights, welcomes Woojin's Dual Class, charges competitively beside the vanguard, and later swings regretfully when even continuous enemies no longer feel novel. His request for a smithy and steady work inside it show that undeath preserves interests beyond combat. (Chapters 45, 53, 58, 64, 88)
Abilities and class
Ramson is a Death Knight and former dwarven warrior whose innate skill is Shock Absorption. It absorbs physical impacts whether magical or non-magical, stores the force in his hammer, and allows him to release it after amplification by several magnitudes. This supports a close-range style built around mounted charges, blocks, hammer blows, and grappling. The chapters do not state the skill's storage ceiling, duration, release cost, or whether non-impact magic can be absorbed. (Chapters 45, 49)
The ability is powerful but not absolute. Juliel moves faster than Ramson's flurry of swings, damages his helm, and escapes a grapple, while Cabal survives a hammer blow to the head. Ramson therefore remains a vanguard fighter who creates openings and delivers accumulated force rather than an automatic answer to every durable or agile opponent. (Chapters 49, 73)
Relationships
- Kang Woojin: Woojin summons and commands Ramson as part of the Immortal Army, while giving him enough freedom inside the Domain to return to smithing. (Chapters 43, 45, 53, 66, 69, 71, 82)
- Kiba: Ramson rides close behind Kiba in the Death Knights' charge and serves within the same veteran vanguard. Their competition to reach battle first reflects the army's shared martial culture. (Chapter 45)
- Jaenis: Ramson operates under Jaenis when command of the undead is delegated and accepts the Lich's instructions during later campaigns. (Chapters 71, 84)
Items
The scoped inventory assigns Ramson no individually notable generated artifact. His unnamed war hammer is central to Shock Absorption and doubles as a smith's tool, but it is not identified as a separately catalogued artifact. (Chapters 45, 49, 53, 69, 73, 88)
