Ggaebi

Ggaebi is Kang Woojin's shadow Familiar, a covert scout able to hide in shadows, share a host's senses, possess corpses, and exchange souls with its master. It is loyal enough to have saved Woojin repeatedly, but its enthusiasm for possession and killing continually unsettles him. A late revelation connects that appetite to a concealed identity: after possessing the defeated Dimensional Administrator, Ggaebi declares a complete revival and becomes the destructive being later called Black Armor. Biography

Shadow scout

Ggaebi returns to active service when Woojin summons it in Pyongyang. Its shadow body resembles Woojin, and the two share thoughts, sight, and sensation closely enough that the resemblance feels invasive to him. Ggaebi attaches itself to Kim Jongun, maps Memorial Palace through the host's experiences, and returns the accumulated memories to Woojin. Woojin subsequently uses the same method against assassins and political targets, placing Ggaebi inside a person's shadow to follow movements and collect information that conventional surveillance could not reach. (Chapters 33–34, 37–40, 44)

Woojin raises Ggaebi to level fifty during the campaign against an insurgency network, expanding one planted shadow into six and unlocking a broader covert toolkit. He uses Soul Exchange to move through the insurgents' shadows while Ggaebi controls his unattended body, then retrieves the Familiar and its intelligence after the fighting. The mission demonstrates why Woojin relies on a being he distrusts: Ggaebi can infiltrate, observe, and preserve a trail over long distances, but it also enjoys borrowing his body and has used that freedom for massacres in the past. Phantom operations

Ggaebi's later assignments alternate between espionage and direct possession. It suppresses Al Assad through an attached shadow, searches a building for Do Jiwon, scouts Colonies and dungeons, and returns its sensory record directly to Woojin. When placed inside an Ogre corpse, it draws out more ability than the creature possessed while alive and rampages with strength comparable to Dolsae. These successes do not make Ggaebi safer: Woojin continues to describe it as the Familiar most eager to kill and uses it under explicit orders. (Chapters 54, 65, 67, 70, 73, 81)

During Woojin's fight with the Dimensional Administrator, Ggaebi waits inside the shadow cast by the Administrator's armor and moves only after Woojin defeats him. It then corrupts the remaining light, claims to have awakened from death, and calls the possession a complete revival rather than an ordinary borrowed corpse. The resulting Black Armor attacks Earth for days until Woojin returns and cuts it apart with Thrash's Executioner. A shadow then leaves the smoke and is absorbed into Woojin. This sequence strongly identifies Ggaebi with Black Armor, but it does not explain the Familiar's original identity, why it had been punished by death, or what awareness remains after reabsorption. Appearance and personality

In its ordinary form, Ggaebi is a transparent shadow being shaped exactly like Woojin, almost a cloned silhouette. It can flatten into a paper-thin shadow, hide within people, buildings, or other objects, and manifest a large eye within darkness. The system calls it a Shadow Phantom, while the narration later calls it a Shadow Imp. After entering the Dimensional Administrator, its shadow corrupts red light to midnight black and manifests through the armored body rather than retaining the smaller familiar outline. Ggaebi is playful, shrewd, intrusive, loyal, and openly bloodthirsty. It reads Woojin's mind without permission, laughs at violent opportunities, asks about sacrifices, and takes pleasure in possessing its master's body. It can nevertheless obey restraint when commanded and waits for long periods to complete surveillance missions. The Black Armor revelation makes its loyalty harder to interpret: Ggaebi serves effectively for years and follows the immediate ambush order, yet uses the victory to restore an independent, destructive existence that turns against Woojin's people. Abilities and class

At level fifty, Ggaebi's system class is Shadow Phantom and its listed role is Familiar. Its core parasitic shadow reads a living host's emotions and experiences; when recalled, those gathered memories enter Woojin directly. Shadow Multiplication increases every ten levels and permits six simultaneous shadows at level fifty. Expanded Senses lets it observe while hidden in buildings or other inanimate objects, though perceptive Awakened may still notice that something is wrong. Distance can also make the linked sensory transition or Soul Exchange disorienting. (Chapters 33–34, 38, 44–45, 65, 70, 81)

Soul Exchange swaps Woojin's consciousness with Ggaebi, letting Woojin act through a distant shadow while the Familiar occupies his body. Shadow Movement then allows Woojin, rather than Ggaebi, to travel freely between shadows during the exchange. This arrangement is powerful but risky because Ggaebi enjoys bodily freedom and has caused massacres while in control. Separate from the swap, Ggaebi can silence or constrain an attached living target, as shown when its power prevents Al Assad from speaking. (Chapters 45–46, 50, 54)

When Ggaebi possesses a corpse, it can control the body and amplify a resurrected corpse's performance. The listed Corpse Amplification reaches fifty percent at level fifty, and an Ogre host performs beyond its ability in life. Possessing the Dimensional Administrator produces a much greater transformation described as complete revival, yielding Black Armor's extraordinary regeneration, destructive force, and endurance. The corpus does not establish that ordinary corpse possession could reproduce this result; the Administrator's body and Ggaebi's unrevealed past make the final manifestation exceptional. • Kang Woojin: Woojin treats Ggaebi as a loyal, exceptionally useful Familiar whose access to his thoughts and body requires constant caution. Their shared senses enable covert operations, but Ggaebi ultimately uses Woojin's ambush to revive independently before being defeated and absorbed back into him.
