Black Heart

History

The Black Heart takes root in Jinwoo Sung while he experiences a System file containing the Shadow Monarch’s memories. The System reports that a great power has accepted him as its owner and applies the heart as a title buff. Its arrival shocks the Architect, who expected Jinwoo’s consciousness to be replaced rather than remain in control.

Jinwoo continues living with the sensation of a second heartbeat. Medical examination finds no anatomical change, confirming that the heart is magical rather than an ordinary organ. When the Monarchs destroy Jinwoo’s human heart, possession of the Black Heart fulfills the final condition for the System’s unknown passive skill. Jinwoo meets the former Shadow Monarch in the world of eternal rest, accepts the full succession, and returns with the Black Heart beating in place of the destroyed human one.

Properties and use

On first activation, the Black Heart adds one hundred thousand mana points to Jinwoo’s reserves. This enormous supply allows his shadow soldiers to regenerate repeatedly and supports an army whose continued restoration would otherwise exhaust him.

The heart also links Jinwoo to the former Shadow Monarch’s power and inner domain. After succession, it is no longer merely an added reserve: it sustains him as the complete Shadow Monarch. Its beat responds strongly to other Monarchs and major sources of magic power.

• Jinwoo Sung: Jinwoo is the Black Heart’s bearer and the person it recognizes as the Shadow Monarch’s successor.

Unlike the Demon Monarch’s Jewelry Set, the Black Heart cannot be removed or traded as conventional equipment. It is an integrated magical power.
