Yoonho Baek

Yoonho Baek is an S-rank brawler, the founder of the White Tiger Guild, and one of South Korea’s most experienced active raid leaders. His beast transformation makes him a formidable frontline hunter, while his rare perception lets him recognize Jinwoo Sung’s abnormal growth before the official ranking system can explain it.

Biography

Building White Tiger

Yoonho begins his career with the Reapers Guild before leaving to establish White Tiger with institutional help from Gunhee Go. The split creates a lasting commercial rivalry, but White Tiger’s rapid development shows Yoonho’s ability to turn personal S-rank power into a functioning organization. He personally monitors training schedules, recruitment, and strike-team readiness rather than acting as a distant celebrity owner. (Chapters 11, 22)

His management style is loud and demanding. Delays in securing gates for new recruits provoke immediate anger because they affect both safety and the guild’s ability to field tested teams. That temper is paired with hands-on responsibility: when a White Tiger training party becomes trapped in a Red Gate, Yoonho goes to the site and remains through the crisis rather than delegating it. The Red Gate

Yoonho has survived a Red Gate before and explains its dangers from experience. Once the barrier closes, the dungeon becomes an isolated environment with its own climate and geography; low-ranked hunters may die from cold, starvation, or monsters before the boss is ever found. Looking at the team composition, he grimly expects the stronger trainees to have the best chance while the weakest are unlikely to return. (Chapter 16)

The outcome overturns that calculation. The low-ranked hunters survive under Jinwoo’s protection, while the senior A-rank leader Chul Kim dies after betraying them. When the gate opens, Yoonho quickly recognizes that the official account cannot explain the survivors’ condition. Jinwoo rebuffs his attempt to assess him physically, confirming that the quiet E-rank hunter is not what he appears to be. (Chapters 17–18)

Yoonho does not expose the survivors for publicity. He restricts media access and lets the strange details remain obscured, protecting traumatized trainees and avoiding a premature confrontation over Jinwoo’s identity. At the same time, he begins investigating and recruiting the person who transformed a lethal training disaster into a survival story. (Chapters 18, 21)

Recognizing a hunter who grows

Yoonho’s search for Jinwoo brings him into competition with the other major guild masters. At the high-orc dungeon and Jinwoo’s S-rank announcement, he sees evidence that the reawakened hunter stands above an ordinary recruit. His Eyes of the Beast respond instinctively to Jinwoo’s mana, but what he perceives is not a fixed limit. The hunter’s power has increased between encounters, leading Yoonho to accept the otherwise impossible proposition that Jinwoo can continue growing. (Chapters 26–27, 33)

This conclusion is one of Yoonho’s most important judgments. The Hunter Association’s measuring devices and rank system assume that awakened power is fixed. Yoonho instead trusts repeated observation, revises his model, and warns others that Jinwoo’s recorded S rank does not describe his future strength. His desire to recruit Jinwoo remains commercial, but his assessment is not distorted by that desire. (Chapters 27, 33)

Jeju Island

Yoonho joins Korea’s Jeju Island strike team and participates in the training matches against Japan’s S-rank hunters. His beast senses help him evaluate opponents and prepare for the ant nest, while his transformation gives the team a durable close-range fighter alongside Haein and the other brawlers. (Chapters 32–34)

Inside the nest, Yoonho tears through guards and fights the Ant Queen. When the Ant King appears, his senses recognize the new enemy’s danger before most of the team can react. He partially transforms—white fur, elongated claws, and greater bestial power—but cannot track the Ant King’s full speed. He tries to protect the other hunters as the creature kills Min Byunggu, incapacitates Haein, and reduces the operation to survival. (Chapter 34)

Yoonho remains functional through the collapse of the formation. He carries and guards the wounded, directs the Ant King’s attention toward the “human king” outside the nest in an attempt to buy time, and understands the significance of the shadow soldier Jinwoo secretly placed within him. Once Jinwoo arrives, Yoonho accepts the reversal of command without hesitation and helps move the survivors while the Shadow Army clears the island. (Chapters 34–35)

Later crises and the restored world

After Jeju, Yoonho continues leading White Tiger through a world increasingly dominated by gates too large for ordinary guild competition. He follows Jinwoo’s warnings, stands with Korea’s hunters during the monolithic-gate crisis, and recognizes that Haein’s connection to Jinwoo has become personal. His role shifts from trying to acquire Jinwoo to supporting decisions only Jinwoo can make. (Chapters 53, 63, 66)

In the restored timeline, Yoonho never awakens as an S-rank hunter and White Tiger is never formed. His instinct to enter danger for others persists in ordinary life: he works with emergency responders during a major wildfire, preserving the protective side of the guild master without supernatural power. Appearance and personality

Yoonho is a powerfully built adult man with a commanding voice and a physically direct manner. His transformation supplies his clearest supernatural appearance: white fur spreads over his body, his nails lengthen into claws, and his face and posture become more beastlike as strength and predatory senses rise. He can invoke the change partially rather than losing himself completely to it. (Chapters 11, 34)

He is hot-tempered, competitive, and outspoken, but not careless about subordinates. Yoonho can sound harsh when estimating casualties or criticizing delays because he treats gate danger as concrete rather than ceremonial. He remains at the Red Gate, protects survivors from publicity, fights beside former rivals on Jeju, and uses himself as a shield when the operation fails. He is also intellectually flexible: once the evidence shows that Jinwoo violates the fixed-rank system, Yoonho accepts the impossible sooner than more bureaucratic observers. S-rank brawler

Yoonho is an active Korean S-rank hunter specializing in close combat. He possesses exceptional strength, speed, durability, and mana, and is trusted to fight at the center of the Jeju Island strike team. Within the broad S-rank category, he remains below the story’s national-level and Monarch-class combatants. (Chapters 30, 33–35)

Beast transformation

Yoonho can transform into a white-furred beast form with claws and sharply increased physical power. The form enhances direct attacks and lets him rip through high-level ant monsters. He retains tactical judgment and speech rather than becoming a mindless animal, and can appear only partly transformed when a full change is unnecessary. (Chapter 34)

Eyes of the Beast

The Eyes of the Beast allow Yoonho to perceive mana, predatory danger, and differences in an opponent’s strength that ordinary observation misses. They react to Jinwoo and help Yoonho determine that his power is increasing over time. They also alert him to the Ant King’s arrival. The faculty is not omniscience: perceiving danger does not let him follow an enemy whose speed exceeds his body’s ability to respond. (Chapters 27, 33–34)

Gate survival and raid judgment

Yoonho understands Red Gate environments, team composition, guild training, and the practical logistics of raids. He can estimate survival chances, identify when a public explanation is false, and change priorities from conquest to evacuation. His forecast at the Red Gate is rational from known ranks but fails because Jinwoo is hidden from the model, illustrating both his experience and the limits of conventional information. Leadership and restraint

White Tiger’s growth and field performance reflect Yoonho’s organizational skill. He is willing to compete aggressively for recruits, but he also suppresses media access after a traumatic gate, cooperates with rival guilds during national emergencies, and follows stronger battlefield authority when civilians or teammates are at risk.
