Thor’s Promise

Thor’s Promise is Lan Jue’s dimensional storage ring and his dedicated link to Thor. The ring turns a full-sized custom mecha into equipment he can call, direct, dismiss, and transport at a moment’s notice while also serving as a compact store for other objects.

History

A promise linked to Thor

The ring is named soon after Lan Jue’s return to Skyfire Avenue, but its central function becomes clear during the Taihua crisis. Lan Jue uses it to summon Thor from a distance and communicate with the mecha; the connection relays everything Thor sees back to him. He can continue directing it while moving independently, then dismiss it into interdimensional storage once the evacuation is complete. The same process allows him to swallow Thor into the ring before departing with the Wine Master. (Chapters 27, 136–140, 144)

Storage beyond the mecha

Thor’s Promise is not limited to Thor. Lan Jue produces a collection of objects from it on Skyfire Avenue, stores an alien core for later examination, carries a thunder gem, and secures confiscated communicators and other supplies. Captus can also force the ring to reveal its contents during the Banishing Blade’s attempt to find suitable material. These uses establish the ring as Lan Jue’s principal portable storehouse as well as his mecha interface. (Chapters 168, 514, 547, 560)

Field use and survival

Throughout the alien war, the ring lets Lan Jue deploy Thor in open space, install mission-specific equipment, and recover captured material without arranging conventional transport. It also holds ordinary necessities, making it useful between battles as well as during them. When Lan Jue is consumed by an intense electrical transformation, his communicator and clothing are destroyed, but Thor’s Promise survives along with other metallic and moisture-bearing objects. Its last recorded condition therefore remains operational. (Chapters 653, 694, 699, 704, 724, 789)

Abilities and properties

• The ring stores Thor in an interdimensional space and can summon or recall the mecha with a gesture. (Chapters 140, 144, 482)
• It maintains a remote control and sensory link through which Lan Jue perceives what Thor sees. (Chapter 136)
• Its storage space can hold many unrelated objects, from power gems and communicators to a large alien core and a captured creature. (Chapters 168, 514, 560, 694)
• It is exceptionally resilient, surviving the electrical fire that destroys Lan Jue’s communicator and clothing. (Chapter 789)
• Its demonstrated remote link is specifically tied to Thor; the record does not establish equivalent control over other stored objects.
