Pelagic Pearl
The Pelagic Pearl is a high-grade A-ranked power gem from Lyr that Lan Jue buys for Zhou Qianlin's protection. Once bonded by blood, it recognizes one master for life and can summon a powerful water elemental. Its defensive strength is considerable but finite: Granny Bess corrupts and pierces its first directly shown elemental almost immediately.
History
Purchase, forced bond, and defensive use
The Lyr auction offers three Pelagic Pearls as energy sources and water-aligned mecha cores. Lan Jue acquires a superior specimen and presents it to Qianlin, who recognizes that accepting the required blood bond would make the gift permanent. When she refuses, he immobilizes her and applies her blood anyway, then sets the pearl in a white-metal bracelet that she subsequently wears. The act makes Qianlin its sole bonded master even though Lan Jue arranged and paid for it. (Chapters 210–218)
Qianlin later triggers the bracelet against Granny Bess, summoning a large water elemental with defenses rated near a ninth-level third-rank Talent. The attacker corrupts and pierces the elemental, proving that the Pearl can delay danger without guaranteeing its bearer's safety. Qianlin continues wearing it, then returns it to Lan Jue during their Chapter 506 misunderstanding; he is last directly shown holding the still-distinct pearl. The local corpus does not show it being absorbed into a Tear of Neptune, so no such transformation is assigned despite that label in the refreshed inventory brief. (Chapters 329, 412, and 506)
Abilities and properties
- A Pelagic Pearl contains substantial stored energy. A five-hundred-carat example can support a top mecha for roughly three hours of continuous combat, making the gem suitable as a core or reserve source. (Chapter 210)
- It carries pure water-element power. A compatible Water Adept can at least double personal output, with the auction description claiming higher amplification for an especially strong match. Those figures are sales information rather than Qianlin's demonstrated baseline. (Chapter 210)
- Once awakened with a master's blood, the gem answers only that person until death. Qianlin's specimen is therefore hers after bonding even when another person physically carries the bracelet. (Chapters 217–218)
- Qianlin can summon a large water elemental through the bracelet. Its attack can contest an eighth-level Talent and its defense a ninth-level third-rank Talent, but a sufficiently superior or corruptive power can destroy it almost instantly. (Chapter 329)
