Fantascia Genetica Decoction
Fantascia Genetica Decoction is a rare Western genetic medicine that alters DNA and can sharply increase an Adept’s Discipline. Its strength, cost, and risk make every dose consequential: Lan Jue uses one treatment as an emergency source of power, while a diluted regimen permanently changes Jin Tao’s prospects.
History
Acquiring two rare doses
Lan Jue asks to buy Fantascia Genetica while preparing both for Taihua and for Jin Tao’s advancement. Piao Hong instead gives him two decoctions in return for his promise to provide aid. Each is worth roughly an S-ranked power gem, and Western production reaches only about a dozen doses in a year. Lan Jue dilutes one and entrusts it to Hua Li for Jin Tao, dividing the medicine into three treatments to be taken three months apart. (Chapters 117, 121–123, 140)
Jin Tao’s dangerous treatment
Jin Tao begins from only a second-level Talent, far below the fifth-level recipients normally seen taking the drug. He must remain conscious through extreme pain so that he can perceive and absorb every change. Failure carries severe consequences, and Western practitioners would not ordinarily permit someone with his limited Discipline and physical endurance to attempt it. The divided course succeeds well enough to let him close the training gap with Tang Xiao, but it does not replace continued cultivation. (Chapters 127, 133, 140, 604)
Lan Jue’s emergency use on Taihua
During the Taihua crisis, Lan Jue consumes an entire decoction rather than a diluted portion. It drives his power beyond its ordinary level and gives him the strength to confront the planet’s monsters, but the effect is an emergency transformation rather than a stable breakthrough. Later comparisons emphasize the enormity of that temporary power. The public account of the rescue explains that a whole bottle powered the blue mecha’s feat and warns that a ninth-level Adept would normally be expected to explode under such an overload. Long-term costs
The decoction can create or strengthen Adepts quickly, helping explain the Western Alliance’s larger Adept population, but high-level users react badly and the cost is astronomical. Enhancement also impedes later natural progress: a recipient who used Fantascia in youth faces a much harder path toward Paragon. The recorded doses associated with Lan Jue and Jin Tao are consumed, not retained as an available supply. (Chapters 387, 482, 652)
