Morgan's Warbow
Morgan's Warbow is a human-forged Ascended bow awarded to Sunny after his victory as Mongrel in the Dreamscape tournament. Built for immense strength, it creates arrows attuned to its wielder's soul and can turn those arrows into heavy restraints or essence-consuming obliterating shots. (Chapters 550–557, 692, 898, 977, 1766, 1961, 2051)
History
Valor's prize for Mongrel
Sunny received the bow among the rewards arranged after his tournament performance. Its personalized name, Valor brand, and craftsmanship suggested that it had been created for Morgan or designed around her, but the supplied corpus does not show her wielding or owning this particular instance. As a Memory forged by a human spellsmith, its weave fascinated Sunny: it looked as intricate and harmonious as a naturally awarded Memory, demonstrating the standard Clan Valor's masters could reach. (Chapters 549–550)
The bow was an Ascended weapon of the fourth tier with four enchantments. It produced its own soul-affined ammunition, demanded tremendous power to draw, increased the weight of arrows already embedded in an enemy, and could consume a large quantity of essence for one obliterating strike. Sunny needed two shadows to bend it when he first tested it, and an ordinary shot accidentally shattered an armored plate across his dojo, immediately establishing both its force and the danger of casual use. (Chapter 550)
A weapon its owner had to grow into
Sunny kept the bow secret from people who knew it as Mongrel's prize, practicing basic archery with a less identifiable Blackhorn Bow instead. The choice limited unwanted questions about his identity but slowed his ability to master the weapon he had actually won. During preparations for the Second Nightmare, he tried to lend Morgan's Warbow to Kai, the cohort's superior archer, only to find that Kai lacked the raw strength to draw its Unbending string. The Memory therefore stayed with the less gifted archer because its physical requirement outweighed technique alone. (Chapters 552, 557, and 692)
By Antarctica, Sunny had practiced enough to deploy the warbow in serious operations. He armed Saint with it for long-range cover during an underwater investigation and carried it himself while guarding refugee convoys through blizzards. Its conjured ammunition reduced logistical dependence on a quiver, while the long range and heavy impact let Sunny threaten targets before they reached civilians. Water, weather, visibility, and the enemy's Rank could still reduce the practical result of a shot; the bow did not replace scouting or judgment. (Chapters 898 and 947–977)
Destruction and surviving designs
Morgan's Warbow disappeared with most of Sunny's unmodified Memories when the Vile Thieving Bird stole his fate and severed him from the Nightmare Spell. It is explicitly listed among the weapons that were gone, and Sunny later called the bow sorely missed. He nevertheless retained knowledge of its weave: Burden of Peace inspired a stronger weight-increasing arrow, and Death Dealer remained one of the past enchantments he considered while designing a soulbound sword. The designs survived in his craft even though the Memory itself did not. (Chapters 1582, 1766, and 1961)
Sunny later cited the bow as evidence that spellsmith-guided improvement could produce deliberate human design rather than random magical growth. That reflection concerns the destroyed warbow's construction and does not establish its restoration or a second copy in Morgan's hands. Its latest item-level state therefore remains destroyed. (Chapter 2051)
Abilities and properties
Soul Arrows
The bow creates arrows from the wielder's soul rather than requiring ordinary ammunition. These arrows share the wielder's affinity and the bow's Ascended rank and fourth tier, providing a renewable supply of projectiles suited to the person drawing the string. The corpus demonstrates shadow-like arrows for Sunny but does not fully enumerate how every possible affinity would alter their effects. (Chapter 550)
Unbending
Unbending makes the bow adamantine and extremely difficult to draw. The stored force sends arrows as far as the wielder can see and gives them tremendous penetration against armor and flesh. The requirement is a genuine limitation: Sunny initially needed two shadows to pull the string, and Kai could not use it despite exceptional archery skill. Great strength thus unlocks range and impact but narrows the pool of effective wielders. (Chapters 550 and 692)
Burden of Peace
Once a soul arrow has pierced an enemy, the wielder can increase its weight drastically. The effect can enlarge the wound, hinder movement, or pin down a powerful target, with greater essence producing greater weight. Sunny's later Heavy Blow arrow improves on this principle, but that derivative should not be mistaken for proof that the original enchantment had identical limits or maximum scale. (Chapters 550 and 1961)
Death Dealer
Death Dealer consumes a large amount of essence to produce an obliterating shot. The description and Sunny's later recollections establish its purpose, but the supplied passages do not give a controlled measurement of range, area, or the strongest target it can kill. Its high essence demand prevents treating every arrow as an obliterating strike and makes timing essential in an extended battle. (Chapters 550 and 1766)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Morgan | Namesake and design association — The custom name and Valor provenance associate the bow with Morgan, but the corpus does not show her holding this Memory. (Chapter 550) |
| Sunny | Award recipient and wielder — He receives it as Mongrel's tournament prize, learns to use it, carries it through Antarctica, and loses it after his banishment from the Spell. (Chapters 550–692, 898–977, and 1582) |
