Scythe

Scythe is Kronos' signature divine weapon. The ancient original is destroyed after his fall; the later active Scythe is a reconstruction built around Vigrid, a new Darkness Jade, and many additional holy artifacts.

History

Kronos' destroyed original

Kronos materializes Scythe inside his conscious world and describes it as the beloved weapon that represented him as king of Olympus. The text distinguishes it from Vigrid's Harpe form, calls it Vigrid's prototype, and states that Zeus destroyed the real original after taking the throne. (Chapter 576)

The original was made to maximize Kronos' domains of time and death. Later accounts add that Olympus' treasures had been condensed into the weapon and that Zeus and his brothers scattered its pieces after the artifact refused a new owner. (Chapters 576, 653)

Reconstruction around Vigrid

Kronos identifies Scythe as Vigrid's culminating true name and proposes recreating the weapon to cut Allforone's light. Yeon-woo receives a Darkness Jade identified as Scythe's main core and commissions master smiths to make a new, stronger version, centered around Vigrid rather than recovered as the intact ancient original. (Chapters 604, 651, 653)

Vigrid's many weapon legends and the newly forged components merge around the Darkness Jade. The true name Scythe appears, Vigrid's name is permanently changed, and Yeon-woo becomes the reconstructed weapon's first active wielder. Kronos later transforms into Scythe so Jeong-woo can wield it, making Kronos the animating spirit or manifestation rather than a separate physical custodian at that moment. (Chapters 676, 762)

Abilities and properties

• Amplifies Kronos' domains of time and death and can cut a target's allotted time to lead it directly to death. (Chapter 576)
• Wounds resist recovery because the weapon leaves the concept of death behind. (Chapter 576)
• Reconstructed from interlocking holy artifacts and legends, with Vigrid and the Darkness Jade as its center. (Chapters 651, 653, 676)
• Can adjust its size and serve as a conduit for the spring of time and spring of death. (Chapter 676)
