Nemesis

Nemesis is a sentient Mythical Beast who lived previously as Jeong-woo's dragon companion Mirne and returns beside Yeon-woo. He speaks, remembers, judges his companions' choices, and decides when to answer them; his combat bond never reduces him to a passive possession. His command of empty dreams and anti-magic territory makes him a powerful ally, while his dry humor and protective concern give him an independent place in the brothers' circle.

Biography

Hatching into a second life

Before receiving the name Nemesis, the newly hatched beast is called Growl and resists Yeon-woo's teasing while the two negotiate a formal bond. Naming gives him an identity he visibly accepts with pride rather than a label imposed on an unthinking creature. His previous-life memories as Mirne also begin returning, including techniques once used beside Jeong-woo. Resting within the Philosopher's Stone accelerates his growth, but Nemesis emerges, speaks, and trains as a participant whose experience predates Yeon-woo's contract. (Chapters 168–173, 181–192)

Protecting Yeon-woo and welcoming Jeong-woo

Nemesis repeatedly warns Yeon-woo when recklessness threatens to waste their strength, then enters battle when the decision is made. He curses enemies, blesses allies, blocks movement with cyclones and darkness, and helps recover Jeong-woo's former equipment when the younger brother returns as a vestige. His concern when Jeong-woo cannot be summoned and his own memory of waiting in emptiness make the brothers' recovery personal to him, not merely another order from Yeon-woo. Choosing to answer the final summons

When Jeong-woo resolves to confront Allforone directly, Nemesis answers immediately, saying that he has been waiting to be called before disappearing through emptiness to take his place. Jeong-woo's later dragon-headed formation draws on Mirne's shape, carrying their older partnership into the battle without erasing Nemesis' present identity. Afterward, Nemesis remains active beside Nike, joking about Yeon-woo and commenting on events with the familiarity of a long-lived companion rather than a silent summoned resource. Appearance and personality

Nemesis manifests through dark fog as a long dragonlike Mythical Beast. Soon after hatching he is already about seven meters long, with a serpentine body resembling Akasha's Snake and a distinct Mythical Beast's head. His later techniques fill an area with darkness, empty haze, and dragon-shaped force, making his presence recognizable even when he passes through emptiness rather than arriving physically. He is proud, articulate, protective, and dryly amused by his companions. Nemesis dislikes being treated as immature, takes satisfaction in his former abilities, and voices frustration when Yeon-woo ignores danger. He also enjoys trading jokes with Nike and recounting embarrassing stories to Kronos. Those responses establish a continuous personality capable of affection, criticism, and choice across both of the brothers he serves. (Chapters 168–181, 287–305, 604, 747)

Abilities and powers

Empty Dream

Empty Dream creates a region aligned with emptiness that reduces ambient magic power, weakening magic attacks and making Nemesis exceptionally difficult for spellcasters to confront. He can draw targets into empty dreams and propagate darkness that binds enemies. The effect controls a defined area rather than deleting every power universally, and its reach and strength develop with Nemesis' growth and the energy available through his bond. Dragon's Pillar

Dragon's Pillar raises a powerful storm after Empty Dream has reduced opposition, letting Nemesis scatter or immobilize groups and control routes through a battlefield. He later curses enemies, blesses allies, and uses fierce cyclones to force hostile troops into bottlenecks. The technique is most effective as coordinated support: Shanon, Hanryeong, and Rebecca exploit the openings rather than Nemesis being presented as the only combatant. (Chapters 173, 370–391)

Emptiness travel and later state

Nemesis can emerge from and disappear into emptiness, a property connected to the interval he experienced before resurrection. This movement lets him answer Jeong-woo's summons rapidly and assist plans involving the Crawling Chaos' unconscious. His former identity as Mirne also informs Jeong-woo's dragon-shaped techniques, but the formation is Jeong-woo's use of that shared history, not evidence that Nemesis loses his separate will. He remains active and conversational in the latest relevant scenes. (Chapters 486–530, 675–678, 747)

Relationships

• Yeon-woo: Nemesis forms a voluntary bond with Yeon-woo, advises him, challenges reckless decisions, and fights beside his other companions.
• Jeong-woo: Jeong-woo was Nemesis' partner during his life as Mirne. Their reunion restores an older trust, and Nemesis readily answers Jeong-woo's call against Allforone.
• Nike: Nike is Nemesis' fellow Mythical Beast and frequent conversational partner. They fight in complementary roles and tease Yeon-woo together.
• Shanon: Shanon uses openings created by Nemesis' storms and darkness, and later joins his joking accounts of Yeon-woo's past.
• Boo: Boo supports Nemesis and Nike with barriers and shared service to Yeon-woo; all three retain distinct voices and specialties within the same circle.
